Did you know? Macaques groom each other to make up after a fight, releasing endorphins—the same feel-good chemicals we get from a massage or time with friends.
But instead of letting them live a peaceful life in the wild where they belong, Canada has imported nearly 1,800 of these sensitive macaques in just three years—endangered animals torn from their forest homes for research. This trade inflicts immense suffering, poses serious public health risks, and undermines science.

This handsome and adorable pup is 🧡 Benson 🧡 and he is currently at our care and rehabilitation centre after being rescued from a situation of neglect in Ontario.
Despite his past, Benson is a sweet and funny dog who will soon make a family of his own very happy. At our care and rehabilitation centre, we give a second chance to dogs like Benson through patient and indidualized behavioral therapy, helping them overcome their traumatic pasts and learn to trust people again.

🐾 At our Canadian care and rehabilitation centre, we have cared for dozens of dogs rescued from Indonesia’s dog meat trade—terrified animals found with their limbs and muzzles bound and suffocating in stockpiles in slaughter-bound trucks. With patient behavioural support, all these dogs have been able to recover from their severe trauma and are now in loving homes across Canada.
Today, in the name of these brave survivors and the nearly 32,000 Canadians who signed the petition, we are calling for an end to this horrible trade so that no dog or cat in Indonesia will ever have to suffer such cruelty again.

Nakita loves playing ball, but it's even better when she can play with a volunteer. We can't wait for Nakita to join a family of her own where she will continue to play ball as much as she wants 💙!

In a reprehensible decision, Health Canada is granting Alberta and Saskatchewan emergency use of strychnine to kill ground squirrels until November 2027. This is in direct contradiction to Health Canada's recent decision to ban the use of strychnine to poison wildlife.
"Strychnine inflicts extreme suffering on animals and poses serious risks to wildlife, non-target species, and ecosystems, undermining Canada’s commitment to humane, science-based, and environmentally responsible policy,” said Michael Bernard, Deputy Director, Humane World for Animals Canada.
We’re joining other organizations to call on the government to uphold the ban and protect animals.

Dans une décision répréhensible, Santé Canada autorise l’utilisation d’urgence de la strychnine en Alberta et en Saskatchewan pour éliminer les spermophiles jusqu’en novembre 2027. Cette décision contredit directement l’interdiction récente de Santé Canada visant l’utilisation de la strychnine pour empoisonner la faune.
