To You & Me, 30 Years Apart (org: To You & Me, 40 Years Apart) is an archival documentary combine with live piano composition performance. It reveals an unspoken truth in a modern family, and it asks the questions that if life is not so perfect, how do we live through it with one eye close?

I spent the past 12 month devloping this piece, looking at footages from 30 years ago to recent. I hope this film, along with my piano performance will give you a mixed feeling warmth.

Surveillance project from IML 201 — this has always been my proudest and most precious work.
In the summer of 2023, I lost everything from the past six years — my journals, photos, videos, and all the little objects that had quietly recorded a life lived alone, with no witnesses.
From age thirteen to eighteen, my life was calm yet lonely — hard to put into words. Like a faucet left slightly open, it all trickled away in a hidden corner. I tried to catch that fleeting stream with writing, video, and music, hoping to tell whoever passes by in the future:
Look! This stream was my youth.
Wouldn't it be a shame to let it slip away just like that?
So, recording how it felt to lose all of it — that was the only thing I could do.
Grief and helplessness will fade over time, but I’m truly grateful that DJ gave me a chance to preserve those memories while they were still vivid.

Surveillance project from IML 201 这一直是我最骄傲也是最珍贵的作品！23年夏天我丢失了过去六年的所有东西，那些日记，照片，视频，小物件记录着我那段没有任何见证者的一个人的生活。我的十三岁到十八岁平静而孤单，很难用言语形容，如同水龙头没拧紧的细流，在某个隐蔽角落发生了，而我试图用很多很多的文字，录像，音乐去把这些易逝的水接住，跟未来经过的人说：看！这些水是我的青春啊！让他流掉是不是有点太可惜了？所以将我丢失这一切的感受记录下来是我唯一可以做的。悲痛和无奈只会逐渐被淡忘，我很感激DJ让我在记忆鲜活的时候让我用这种方式记录了下来

Learnt so much through this wild ride—from chaotic pre-pro planning, tight set coordination, to experimenting in the edit room. But most importantly, I’m grateful for the friendships this project created.

第一次从零开始策划这样复杂又大胆的作品。我和沈芯真的为此掉了不少头发。三个月的焦虑、自我怀疑、熬夜开会，一点一点把脑海里的画面落地实现。日子也因此逐渐丰满起来，我也开始期待起明天。
