Wicker and mixed media sculpture by Mallie Sanford, part of "Terrains of sound, light, and form" opening reception with sound activation 5/14 6-8pm at SVA Flatiron Gallery
------
Mallie Sanford is an interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Their mediums are intrinsically linked to one another through the activation of discarded objects transmitted both materially and sonically. Their work revolves around these objects- detritus, broken and discarded- giving them function, new form, and revived spirit. Much of their sculptural process involves light, weaving wicker, wire and fabric, movement, and found objects. Their sound practice incorporates bells, tapes, manipulated field recordings, voice, samplers, synthesizers and effects processors to create textural fragments of sound, hypnotic drones, and sonically woven swells of chaotic dissonance.

Some detail shots of drawings and paintings by Conner Calhoun from the group show "Terrains of sound, light, and form" opening reception May 14th from 6-8pm at SVA Flatiron Gallery, 141 W 21st street
Conner Calhoun is a multidisciplinary artist based in Winston Salem NC. His work explores themes/psychologies/gestalts of grief, hopelessness, recovery, longing and desperation. With an alchemical understanding of the world, his work conjures imagery and material from the overlooked, the banal, and the detrite. Often steeped in cosmic-nihilism, Conner’s work nose-dives into the unnameable awe that unifies and connects us to the rest of the universe.
Along with his art practice Conner was previously the Director of LUMP projects in Raleigh, NC. They also previously taught drawing at UNCG. Their most recent projects include a variety of experimental music performances sometimes under the pseudonym Connie, along with other group exhibitions at Greensboro Project Space and LUMP gallery.
They are taking the next few months to work in the studio and their garden, contemplating a different source of income.

At Long Play on Sat May 2 at ISSUE Project Room you’ll hear Julia Santoli share a new composition - Caress of a Cave. The piece takes inspiration from two areas of study: poet & artist Eleni Stecopoulos’ Dreaming in the Fault Zone, on the history of ancient Greek medicine and use of caves for guided treatments; as well as Santoli’s own research on and personal experience with the role of music in guiding the soul through Vietnamese Buddhist funeral rites. The piece is written specifically for the cave-like structure of ISSUE Project Room’s Boerum Place location and its acoustics.
Santoli will be joined by Canto V Engelhard (Canto Villano) and Raimundo Atal (A.B.E.L.A.) on conch and percussion.
Hear this astonishing show and So. Much. More - at Long Play April 30-May 3

Join LACE and the Feminist Center for Creative Work (FCCW) this Sunday from 2–5 PM to celebrate the spring equinox with a 𝗖𝗶𝗯𝗮 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 facilitated by Chinese Artists and Organizers (CAO) Collective, featuring a performance by Julia Santoli.
The Ciba Punch is a participatory, feminist public art performance that reclaims the traditional, often feminized, labor of making ciba (Chinese sticky rice cakes). Participants pound steaming rice, channeling emotions like rage and love to foster community healing and queer/feminist solidarity. This workshop is multigenerational and open to all!
Santoli is a Viet-Am multi-disciplinary artist, musician, and arts organizer. Santoli creates immersive and precarious environments with voice, feedback, electronics, and installation. Her approach to vocalization integrates embodied practice with an attention to close listening, in compositions and structured improvisations often tipping the scales between resonant clarity and extreme sonic states.

With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
