Jorge E. Cuéllar
assistant prof in latin american, latino, & caribbean studies @dartmouthcollege

el mero mero @_g_c_m_ will be passing through campus this coming friday 5/22 to discuss venezuela, the history of its democratic process, and the reality of imperialism in latin america today

Thrilled to head to @dartmouthcollege with @omnionn and @infrapolitics on May 20 to talk journalism, Central America, and the United States!
We'll be projecting "ICE is here!", first released at last year's Central American Journalism Forum @forocap_ in Antigua Guatemala.
This photo concert, set to music by @Omnionn, looks at a prolonged new kristallnacht in the United States. Nine photographers reveal how the persecution of immigrants is unfolding during the Trump era.
We also released it in El Faro English @elfaronet last year.
¡Nos vemos!

excited to be in community with @_vavaboom, her students, and the good folks at wesleyan to talk about the relevance of romero for anti-authoritarian struggle in el salvador today

While the White House spreads violence, hatred, and white supremacy across the US by shutting borders and escalating detentions and deportations, all while creating humanitarian crises through blockades, wars, and imperial aggression across the world, we gathered in community over good food to talk about how the movements for climate justice and migrant justice are inextricably tied.
Muchísimas gracias to Professor Cuéllar for the inspiring talk and to the terrific community cooks for the delicious foods.

First academic article, co-written w Prof Jorge Cuéllar, is freshly published on eScholarship!!! We examined the usage of the Salvadoran criminal legal system as a mechanism for executive overreach targeting environmental defenders, specifically, the Santa Marta 5.

Check out our website for the statement on the final ruling where the Santa Marta 5 water defenders are found innocent for a second time. Santa Marta community was the massacred by the US backed military dictatorship during El Salvador’s armed conflict and while the perpetrators of those atrocities remain in impunity, the Bukele government has instead insisted on using the courts to politically persecute leaders of the community.
The community celebrates the reaffirmation of innocence and warns that this is not the end of political persecution against land defenders and historic communities.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
