This is my auntie Fatin, my babas eldest sister.
Auntie Fatin was killed in 2010 at her family home in Baghdad, she was 59. I never got to meet her or talk to her on the phone.
I really like this picture and I’ve been thinking about how we would have maybe been quite close. It’s an odd feeling having no physical memories of a lot of my family members. Yet I do find it nice to pretend in my mind how it may have been like to meet them.

My cookbook صفرة دايمة ‘Sufra Dayma’ written with the refugee community in Barrow comes out in September ! !! Thank you Art Gene for having me as your artist in residence, it’s been a delectable time. Here’s some BTS pics of the process.

Before April ends and May flowers - this is the work I did at the start of the month in Birmingham!
I had the absolute pleasure of performing for Grand Union Gallery for the April Digbeth First Friday.
My work ‘Ode to the Date’ was a celebration of the endangered national symbol of Iraq, the date. The menu featured different types of dates, tandoor bread with date syrup and tahini, and the date truffle I made live called Madgooga. The feast also included my short film on the date palm industry in Iraq.

🍏 April Digbeth First Friday: ‘Endangered Pudding’ with Faye Matloub and Harmanpreet Randhawa 🍏
🗓 Friday, 3 April
⏰ 6-8pm
📍Grand Union, Minerva Works, B5 5RT
'Endangered Pudding' is right around the corner, and we can't wait for Faye Matloub to join us here at Grand Union, where she will be presenting 'Ode to the Date'! 🍽️
Faye is a British-born Iraqi artist and chef based in London. In 2023, she graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Sculpture. 🌟
Following her studies, her artistic practice gradually transitioned toward the medium of food. As her work moved beyond the confines of the studio and onto the plate, she began to define this evolving body of work as Edible Mediums. 🍝
Edible Mediums encompassed a diverse range of formats, including workshops, community engagement projects, supper clubs, and written work. As a second-generation Iraqi, Faye uses food to engage with different communities, learn from them, and conduct research on the preservation of migrant identity – emphasising the importance of creating accessible language for first and second generation immigrants like herself in a creative context. 💚

If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
