Scalemail & Chainmail Armour for King Aegon Targaryen - House of the Dragon Season 2
Prototype sampling of scalemail and chainmail, alongside pattern cutting and fabrication of the skirts and sleeves, led by Amy Westwood, with support from @lizzie_harkin.
I led the pattern cutting and making of the sleeves and skirts across both prototype and final builds.
The scalemail and chainmail were constructed using aluminium with a leather backing, making it lightweight, then coloured to look authentic.
This was a large-scale collaborative build that took place over several months, to create eight full sets of armour for cast Tom Glynn-Carney and stunts.
Fabrication support: @bronte_bespoke, @elise.maria , @lisa_j_daw, @leighbee13
Digital modelling: Evan Philips
Leatherwork: Sahar Samman
Scale finishing & colouring: @maryallford, @jnnfr.hntngtn, @jaidemade
Chainmail: @thearmchairarmoury, @melancholichobbitAndy Warner, @devonnealycia
Costume FX Supervisor: Simon Brindle
Costume Designer: @carolineemccall
Aegon’s armour overall was a full department effort - scroll to the end for the full credits for that phenomenal team.

A little toolbox sticker I quickly knocked together for the costume effects (Cfx) department at the end of our time on #aknightofthesevenkingdomsto have as a memento of our time with Dunc & Egg.
Team photo on one of the sunnier days we had at the rainy Titanic studios, we all look fantastically tired 😂

A while ago I had the crazy luck of getting a job painting some of the costume armour in a duo with @florencescott.illustration as part of the fantastic costume effects crew on HBO's A knight of the seven kingdoms. Probably my proudest job to date, and mainly because I absolutely adore this show.
It was also the longest job I've done away from home, staying in Belfast for the duration and what a time it was for learning and growth. The team is such a treat of a group of people to work and live in such proximity with, I'm so grateful for the lifelong friendships I've made, and I'm so so pleased to finally see it all on screen.
Although seeing our work roll around in the mud did cause me *mild* distress haha.
An absolute trip to see my name in the credits of a show that has resonated so much with fans, ( myself, I am fans, I'm so obsessed) and it's INSANE seeing absolutely gorgeous fan art being made featuring work we created together.Honestly so grateful for this weird little life.
Also everyone in breakdown for their work on the armours too!! What a job!
In total we either created it had part in - allthe Targaryens and Dunk, the king's guard, and the fun joust Helms of quite a few characters including Lyonel's antlered helm!
Tbh if I'm real this post is just a love letter to the Spar in titanic q for providing me with approx 70 million fifteens, 800 highly specific sandwich bar wraps and on the one hot day we had that year, the crispest cola slushie in all of the nine kingdoms.

A recent make of mine!
I received this already passed from my dad's woodpile, a large amount of post breeding season females had all passed in the same area.
My first foray into a 3D posing and pinning, it was really tricky to get the legs where I wanted them.
I'm super pleased with how she turned out and the vintage museumy feel!
The mount was just some cheeky model making to form a fake branch and a little forest floor.
I've named her Satiné :)

Finally allowed to start posting what was my coolest job to date, painting in the armour department for HBO House of the Dragon season 2!
It's all made from polyurethane, so making it all feel real was great fun.
This is some of the many many kings guard and hand of the king pieces that together with @complimentary.colours and @ambiartdesign, we painted.
So proud of this job, it was insanely hard work and we painted SO much stuff, but it's insanely fulfilling to see it all on screen!

Ive become a little obsessed with making fish from old tomato puree tubes, but they dont have a purpose 😢 a mobile? Magnets? Help me haha

Finally got round to pinning and mounting a tortoiseshell butterfly from Belfast, so happy with how it turned out for such a damaged buggy.
Also stained the lil frame ❤️🦋

Making my first attempts at printing onto fabric.. on a pair of old boxers. If anyone wants mushroom printed undies let me know 👋🏼

The kids in my class love being sketched, and I love how quietly they work when they're being sketched... So here we are. If they're good all day, they get to take it home for their parents.
