⭐️TNMF 2026 Mexico City Composer Fellows Spotlight ⭐️

James Madrilejo (b. 2003) @james.m.composes is a Filipino-American composer, currently pursuing his MA in composition at Rutgers University with Dr. Melissa Dunphy. Previously, James studied composition in London at the Royal College of Music with Dr. Deirdre Gribbin and Dr. Haris Kittos. His achievements as an undergraduate include several commissions for RCM ensembles, as well as performances at prestigious venues across London such as LSO St Luke’s, St Mary Le Strand, and Kew Gardens. His ambitious multidisciplinary work DIGITAL VILLAGE pioneered a novel form of live-stream concert, modelled on the work of Jose Maceda. He graduated in 2025 with first-class honours.

So thrilled to say that my piece ‘First Flight’ was premiered last night at LSO St Luke’s by the incredibly talented Camden Youth Orchestra! It was a wonderful experience working with them, and watching the piece come together with their help over the past few months has been so rewarding.
