We named you James after my father, a good and kind man. A man who loved deeply, worked quietly, and showed me what strength is when it’s rooted in humility. I miss him every day. And now, somehow, I see him again through you. His name lives on. His legacy continues. And my heart holds both the ache of loss and the overwhelming joy of new life.

My dad was gracious in the truest sense. He led with love when no one was watching, helped quietly, listened before speaking, and never needed recognition. He showed me that real strength isn’t loud, it’s gentle. He gave everything for our family and somehow, even in all that giving, being with him was always the best part. I still smile thinking about the small things… like knowing one day you’ll learn what a “dad tax” is, and that love sometimes looks like sharing your snack.

The day you were born, I missed him deeply. I wanted his advice. I wanted him to meet you. And as I held you, I realized I’m only beginning to understand how much he truly gave, and how deeply he loved us.

Watching you take your first breaths undid me in the most holy way. I didn’t know love like this existed. And if this is even a glimpse of how God loves His children, then His love is beyond anything I can comprehend.

“To see how God loves us He calls us His children, and that is what we are.”

Valentina watching you become a mother has been one of the greatest honours of my life. I watched you endure more than anyone should have to, and you stood firm, faithful, and strong in ways that only come from the Lord. The moment James arrived and we heard his cry, we held him together and wept. God met us there. He carried us through.

you're already the mother I always knew you would be. Prayerful. Nurturing. Fiercely loving (Latina). Becoming parents was something we talked about long before it became our reality, living the prayers we once spoke quietly. I am more in love with you now than ever.

I can’t believe it’s almost been 3 months since I married the love of my life. Honestly just so grateful for how God brought us together, he truly moved mountains for us to be here and how he continues to lead us. Marriage is such a blessing, and I couldn’t be more excited to walk this life with you as we became one. Having our families and the people who matter most there to celebrate with us meant everything.

Valentina’s engagement ring and my wedding band used to belong to my parents. Their marriage was a testament to God’s faithfulness, and I hope to follow their example, always loving, always trusting, always putting God at the center. Excited to see these bands continue to live together.
