Finally! A new montage reel of my directing work (producing work kinda by proxy as well). Some new stuff, some older stuff, just a sample of what I get to do when I get the chance to get out there and make some magic. Oh yea... and available for hire! ;)

A bit of a behind-the-scenes look at TERMINUS and the practical snow special effects headed up by @seanbuffini - with assist by @amrithamary and @frankiewestmoreland — all of this was a lot of fun and the results are tremendous! For more - get my book: The Director’s Guide to Everything (link, of course, in bio!) and thanks to @scottpropandroll for tips and advice early on!

Extremely excited to share about this project. After a long haul in post, TERMINUS is finally starting the festival circuit. A fantastic script by @stumpf4943 - this little thriller was so much fun to do. @anetakernova is genius as Shae and what she finds at the end of the road is terrifying… couldn’t have done this without my amazing producing partner @truenstarr or the exquisite photography of @kaitywilliams — this is just a little taste of the fun we made together! @russelling - unbelievable VFX Sup and @twinpinesvfx for breathtaking work. Thanks to executive producers @blarason @lillypetrovic a phenomenal example of @gecko_cam_filmequipment OPIA optics on the @sonycine Venice 2. @seanbuffini for practical effects @timsquyres editing @sarahphillipscamera virtual production design. Incredible support from @mbseco and @roevisual I had such a blast on this one! #directedbyjayholben

This was a fun experiment (literally). While finishing development on a feature drama, @kaitywilliams suggested photographing portions of the movie on film. I had already been pondering using an LED volume to tackle some difficult logistical issues in the story. The question became: does film work on an LED volume? Since I can’t do anything simply, I turned a test into shooting a teaser for the film and the results would become a column for @american_cinematographer Shot Craft. The short story? Film works beautifully on an LED virtual production stage. Check the link in bio for the full article. It takes a village and thanks to all who contributed! #directedbyjayholben

These moments in dark rooms are always a challenge to document and share… but I feel that I spent a significant portion of my life in these dark rooms manifesting dreams on screen (if you’ll forgive the purple poetic turn of phrase)… this one is a long time coming! Two years in post production on this baby, but the results are phenomenal. Finishing the final sound mix today with @janbezouska Incredibly proud of this whole team and this project. More soon! Travel to the end of the road with me! 😁 TERMINUS - coming very soon.

This book is exactly what it says on the cover! @jayholben has written an encyclopedia of filmmaking that truly covers every aspect of the process. And his section on directing actors is spot on!!

This is a clip from my short film, “Paranoid” adapted from the poem “Paranoid: A Chant” by Stephen King, which I made in 1999.

Last night at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences Museum, six Stephen King Dollar Baby short films were selected by the Academy’s Short Film Branch for screening and Paranoid led off the night. It was a tremendous honor to see this film, on its 25th anniversary, at the Academy. It has been an honor that 35mm prints of two of my other short films (The Night Before and Descent) were previously chosen to reside in the Academy’s Film Archive, and last night’s screening was a really lovely further honor!

As always, substantial thanks to Stephen King for his ongoing support of this little film and for his incredible generosity and support of emerging filmmakers for nearly 50 years with the Dollar Baby Deal.

Sometimes I get to do some pretty cool stuff. This week, teaching for the @the__asc Master Class, @pv.guy at @panavisionofficial custom-tuned a couple lenses for me to use during my demonstration of testing and lens characteristics. This little label made me silly happy. When I was an active cinematographer, Panavision was always phenomenally supportive of me and my work. Most of my career, I was a “Panavision Guy” and it was little extra things like this that made them special. Thanks to the whole team at @theofficialoutpost and the Master Class crew for support. Thanks to @cineharmonia @nisiopticsusa and @stage2video and @kaitywilliams

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
