If you know me, you know I’m usually the one planning something, bringing the energy and being the life of the party. I love celebrating, dancing, and bringing people together. That’s just who I am. This year, I didn’t plan anything. No party, no big plan, no performance. Just me being here. Being alive another year is enough for me. There was a time when I didn’t even want to be here anymore. But Jesus met me in that darkness and pulled me out. He reminded me that my life has purpose, even when I couldn’t see it. Today my mom reminded me of the people I’ve touched, the spaces I’ve created, the dancers I’ve shared moments with and the journey that brought me here. And… it broke me. I’m emotional, grateful, and just taking it all in.
Sometimes I expect people to be thoughtful in certain ways and sometimes they are, sometimes they’re not. But I’m learning that I can’t control what people do. What I do know is that I’m still here. Still creating. Still dancing. Still chasing the dreams I once spoke about. So today I’m just grateful.
