SOMEHOW in the middle of one of the most insane project schedules I’ve ever had, I scored this game. The score is an experiment in how much music you can get out of a 3-note theme (turns out it’s a lot), features tons of juicy ambient goodness and some hauntingly subtle flugelhorn performances by @nathanjohnsontrumpet

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT! We were beyond lucky to collaborate with this brilliant composer for the music in “The Captive Maiden & The Wandering Knight”

Jesse Haugen is an award winning composer from California whose work spans genres and platforms. His scores for Zach King have been heard by hundreds of millions across the globe, while his indie film scores have found audiences in some of the world’s most prestigious film festivals like Camerimage and The Pan African Film Festival. His musical endeavors have taken him beyond the world of film as well. He’s written original scores for multi-season episodic podcasts like “The Sheridan Tapes”, written and built interactive video game scores for games like Viola Davis-produced “Taria and Como,” and worked with some of the world’s biggest artists like Gracie Abrams, Bebe Rexha, and Halsey to craft original cinematic renditions of their hit pop songs.

Even though it’s my first love, I’m always so weirdly hesitant to put guitar in scores. Idk if it’s an insecurity thing or if I just heard too many bad 90s action TV cues or what. But man, when it’s right, it’s RIGHT 🤘🏼🎸

Writing music is a constant dance between giving into your instincts and subverting them. I think giving into your instincts is key for ideating/flow/spontineity and subverting them is key for originality. Together, these define your “voice”.
