I’m excited to share that @thetallestdwarffilm will have its broadcast premiere on the @independentlens! The film is an ITVS co-production distributed by Women Make Movies @womenmakemovies , produced in association with Multitude Films @multitudefilms. It’s such an honor to work with PBS to make this film broadly available — I feel very proud of what this film achieved and I’m grateful for the incredible support we had to get here!
Here’s a bit more about the film: When a filmmaker with a rare form of dwarfism seeks out people with bodies like hers, she enters a community in flux. She joins forces with little people artists to trace a troubled history of being put on display. Together they forge a vision of disabled beauty and power.making, the film began as a personal inquiry and then opened into broader questions with higher stakes. Artist Jonna McKone is a filmmaker, photographer and media artist whose work explores land, memory and the layered histories held within landscapes.
This work is part of a series of land and water studies created through alternative photographic processes where light, chemistry and materials gathered from the site itself interact directly on the paper. The resulting chemigrams blur the line between map, landscape and abstraction and examine the traces and histories embedded within place.
