Wow, what a week at the @muenchenerbiennale ! As I’m leaving, and trying not to catch the cold that everyone in the country seems to have right now, I feel incredibly grateful. @simone_keller_ and @philip_bartels_ assembled such an amazing cast and fearlessly led us in this project in every aspect. Not only are they absolute rock stars but also worked tirelessly to create a supportive creative space for everyone. I co-composed a piece, for the first time, with @ailis.ni.riain who was an inspiring collaborator, and I was blown away by the choreography by @pontilee and fierce dance by @kasscalldance @eelicohen @lualeirner.

The piece, Hidden Heartache, brought together non-hearing and hearing perspectives on music, the ideas that movement is music and sound is movement. I feel transformed by my time with these communities and honored to be a part of the conversation on how to make musical spaces more accessible and resonant.

„Meine Arbeit basiert stark auf der Idee, dass sowohl Licht als auch Klang im Grunde Energie im Raum sind – Wellen, die in unterschiedlicher Geschwindigkeit Materie in Schwingung versetzen. Klang ist Bewegung, Bewegung ist Klang“, sagt Julie Herndon, eine der beiden Komponistinnen von „Hidden Heartache“. Das Werk befragt musikalische Wahrnehmung aus nicht-hörender Perspektive und rückt den Ursprung von Bewegung ins Zentrum. So entsteht ein Musiktheater in Körpersprache.

Zwischen Konzertflügel und tanzendem Körper, zwischen Vibration und Geste ereignet sich Klang nicht nur in der Luft, sondern auch durch schwingende Körper. Zwei Taube* und zwei hörende Performerinnen entwickeln in ihrer Bewegung ein Geflecht visueller Rhythmen. Musik und Tanz stehen dabei in einem fortlaufenden Prozess gegenseitiger Formung und Neuausrichtung. Wann wird aus Tanz Musik und wann wird Musik zu Tanz?

Die Produktion des Kollektivs ox&öl in Kollaboration mit der Choreografin Lee Méir, nutzt Körperschallwandler, um Musik physisch erlebbar zu machen. Enjoyed bringing in the new year at the Austin Winter Music Festival, sharing some new sounds for autoharp and electronics. Matt Teodori and Line Upon Line @lulpercussion put together a lovely festival, with such a fun audience. Seàn Clancy and Bedroomhead @bedroomhead played beautiful sets - lovely to be a part!
