From sunset to daybreak.
Commissioned by Just One Eye, this digital artwork is emblematic of Just One Eye’s commitment to embracing art as a means of engaging with contemporary culture alongside fashion, beauty, and furniture.
Ed Ruscha incorporates the “Just One Eye” name into a changing California sky taking the viewer from sunset to daybreak. This 70 second piece is an early digital artwork, created in 2011.
One of the premier artists of the Pop-Art movement, Ruscha is known for his paintings and photographs, which feature a playful integration of words and image. The first of these, “Word Paintings” were created by Ruscha while in Paris in the early 1960s. Based in Los Angeles, California for much of his career, Ruscha’s work is imbued with irreverent references to American pop culture.
Retrospectives of his prolific career thus far have been featured at the Centre Georges Pompidou, J. Paul Getty Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art and Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
