This retrofit project converted a run down and underutilised gym into a new STEAM and staff hub, an exercise in doing a lot with not much by reusing existing materials, adpating spaces and carefully inserting new elements within the existing structure to create a series of welcoming upgraded learning spaces.

The new structure provides a flexible solution for the school's outdoor learning, community gathering, assemblies, as well as much needed protection from the elements for students during play times.
As the first stage of a larger masterplan, the bulding stitches existing admin, PE, learning spaces and playgrounds together.

A low cost and contextual response to inner suburban densification. Replacing a crumbling weatherboard with a two compact townhouses, the new duplex respects the surrounding suburban scale and retains space for native gardens to the street and generous north facing courtyards at the back on the tight site.
