SYNOPSIS
Cows graze atop rolling hills, the cable car glides towards the mountain station, and behind it, 2.5 million light years away, the Andromeda Nebula shimmers. In the beloved Appenzell holiday destination, winter is drawing in: the village council is debating the loud church bells, an astrologer is contemplating the vastness of the universe and the women’s gymnastics team is preparing for their big show. But when the streetlights go out at half past twelve, the night is turned over to the village youth. At the back of a barn snuff is passed around, whilst in the darkness of a car park dreams of other worlds are discussed.
