I sat down with Lawrence Bender, @lawrencebender the legendary Oscar-nominated producer behind films like Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, and now the groundbreaking series Red Alert about the October 7 massacre, picked up by @paramountplus . In our conversation, Bender explains why it is not “too soon” to tell this story, how art shapes the information war, and why the show is rooted in the real testimonies of survivors even as it uses dramatic form. He describes the balance between honoring the truth and protecting viewers from the unimaginable brutality that actually took place, noting that the production intentionally kept much of the horror off-screen because the reality was “beyond imaginationally bad.”
