Some cakes stay with me long after they’re made… and little Sahana’s story is one I’ve carried in my heart from the very beginning 🤍

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of being part of @tiabhuva beautiful family’s most meaningful moment so far her gender reveal and her very first birthday and through it all, I witnessed a quiet, heartfelt longing for a baby girl.

I still remember the moment I received the letter with the baby’s gender… a secret I was so deeply honored to hold. I knew right then that this cake had to be something truly special. So I created an oyster cake that would open to reveal a rare pink pearl inside, symbolizing a dream that had finally come true.

From that moment on, that little pearl became a part of Sahana’s story… something so meaningful that I gently carried into this special first birthday creation.

One year later… that tiny pearl has blossomed into a beautiful little girl.

So this cake is my way of telling little Sahana’s story
of a dream that grew
of love that waited
of a precious pearl that bloomed into a flower 🌸

This is why I do what I do… to turn love, stories, and memories into something you can see, feel, and hold onto, even if just for a moment

Sometimes inspiration photos are just the beginning, not the destination.

When my clients first reached out, they had a vision in mind. But during our initial consultation, something shifted in the best way. We moved away from the expected and leaned into something more abstract, more playful, and a little unexpected.

By the time we got to the sketch review, it turned into a game. Since they couldn’t decide, I turned the sketches around to keep the designs hidden and asked them to point one at the exact same time. No overthinking, just instinct.

They all chose the same one.

It takes trust to let go of the original plan and embrace something new. I’m so grateful for couples like this who are open-minded and willing to explore beyond inspiration pictures.

Delivery day, however… was a different story 😅
This was probably one of the most challenging cakes I’ve ever transported, not just because of gravity, but because of how heavy it was.

But the moment I walked into the room, everything changed. The space styled by @babylonweddingdecorfloral was absolutely breathtaking, and suddenly it all made sense, the cake felt like it truly belonged there.

A reminder that inspiration is just a starting point, and sometimes the best results come from going somewhere unexpected.

It was also an honor to be recommended by a fellow baker and the bride’s friend from San Diego. Being trusted across countries like that means more than I can say. @litebakery99

For going above and beyond and delivering my flowers and helping with them ❤️

It changed how I see ideas.
We like to think ideas belong to us… but maybe they don’t.

Maybe they come to us as an opportunity and if we hesitate too long, someone else will act on it.

So here’s the reminder: If you have an idea that won’t leave you alone… start.
It doesn’t have to be perfect.
It just has to begin.
Because execution is what makes an idea real.

My advice as an artist or a teacher is to work on your skills first, because as you discover or master new techniques and mediums, your skills grow. And when your skills and imagination align, you step into mastery and finally begin to play and enjoy your work...

One day, I noticed large lotus leaves at the grocery store, and the idea just comfortably moved into my mind and didn’t really leave me alone. I kept wondering how to capture that raw, earthy texture in something edible, flexible, and strong enough to hold its shape. That question stayed with me.
Until I found it...

A medium that bends, holds, and becomes anything I imagine, and somehow tastes even better. It can even be used to cover cakes, which still feels a bit like magic every time I say it.

Combined with my flexible gumpaste, it becomes even more alive, letting me shape and reshape flowers even after they dry.

This is what I love about my profession… turning imagination into something real, something you can actually taste. I can say with pride that if you are a cake artist, you can master any art.

Maybe it’s just sugar doing its thing on our brains… suddenly every problem feels solvable and every idea feels edible.🙈

My client wanted to turn her fiance's birthday cake into a game, since he loved fun games- something that would get the guests and him involved and having fun.

So, we came up with the idea of a cube cake tower made of individual mini cakes, each one a mystery flavor. Some had rich, delicious fillings, and others held surprise notes for small gifts the client secretly tucked in before the party. The fun twist? Guests had to carefully pull out a cube without loosing the balance,like a sweet version of Jenga! Each move added a little suspense (and a lot of laughs).

I printed a flavor menu for each guest so they could check what cake they got. That night, my client messaged me saying it was the highlight of the party — guests were laughing, trading flavors, and constantly asking, “What did you get?”

Honestly, this would be such a fun idea for weddings too — imagine a cube cake tower instead of the traditional cupcake display, where each guest gets their own surprise slice. A dessert and a memory all in one!

She said YES! 💃
I am naming her "The Explosion of love"

Back when they were dating, Isabella would often share my work with her fiance, saving the details she loved and dreaming out loud.

But what makes this story so special is that he truly listened.
When Matteo came to my studio and began telling me their love story, I could see it in his eyes. The way he spoke about her. The way he smiled without even realizing it. The love was there in every word.
As he shared their journey, the idea of the mosaic heart started to form.

Hundreds of tiny sugar hearts gathered together to create one powerful heart. His heart.
I kept thinking… maybe every time he saw her, every time they laughed, every quiet moment they shared, one more little heart was added to his own. Slowly building. Growing. Becoming something undeniable.
And when she said yes, that heart did not simply grow. It exploded.

Suspended in mid air, bursting in shades of red, blush and deep rose, this piece became a symbol of all those collected moments.

Love is not just one big gesture. It is the accumulation of many small ones.

To be commissioned for such an intimate and life changing moment is an honor I will always treasure. Being trusted to translate someone’s love story into art is something I never take lightly.
Moments like this are why I create. 💕
