🗣️ Big news! Gather round, gather round!

Foggy Lens is going Perú - permanently!
Beginning of this year I fell in love with the forest and the work Fauna Forever does there (and in other countries) monitoring and researching the diversity of animals and plants in the tropics, so it’s time for the next step!

A move to a place so remote is associated with quite some cost thought, which is why I’ve now set up this fundraiser.

If you want to support me on this journey, I would be really thankful about any donation, however big or small it may be, that brings me closer to my new life in the jungle - and to many more exciting projects!

Eigentlich mögen wir es gar nicht, mit solchen Bildern schlechtes Gewissen zu verbreiten. Aber ab und zu müssen wir darüber sprechen, warum wir Regenwälder so dringend schützen müssen. Ein Grund ist die Bedrohung durch illegale Goldminen, wie @chrisketola eindrücklich zeigt.

Die Region „La Pampa“ verdeutlicht, wie wir auch am anderen Ende der Welt mit dem peruanischen Regenwald verbunden sind und ihn mit unseren Entscheidungen beeinflussen.
Das können wir aber auch zum Guten nutzen! Indem wir kein Gold kaufen. Und indem wir uns entscheiden, ihn zu schützen - Quadratmeter für Quadratmeter.

Meet Triggy McSpikeneck, our semi-friendly neighborhood Dwarf Caiman :)
It was found found after heavy rainfalls in a flooded area right next to @faunaforever’s Secret Forest Research Station.
This lil dino is just too cute, but it is surprisingly strong and has some serious hissing, growling and tail slapping abilities to show his discontent with @chrisketola handling it for collecting valuable monitoring data about this species here in the region.

The long grown mane is gone! ;) that can only mean one thing: I’m finally ready for the jungle! 💪🏼

I‘ll be spending the next two and a half months in Peruvian rain- and cloud forests hoping to not only fulfill a childhood dream but also getting a better understanding of the biodiversity in the Amazon rainforest and which threats those unique ecosystems east of the Andes are facing.

I am planning on documenting the work and commitment of different researchers and organizations across different altitudes and hope that I’ll be able to share some interesting and inspiring insights soon. Let’s find out what the future holds! 🤞🏼

The great thing about being more mindful of autumn is that it can open up whole new worlds. It's not just leaves that captivate with their different shapes and colors in autumn - mushrooms also come in a wide range of varieties. During an autumn walk in the forest and a careful look into the undergrowth, you can discover the fascinating fruiting bodies of many types of mushrooms.

This picture shows edible amethyst deceivers, nestling in the moist autumn leaves of the deciduous forests of northern Brandenburg.

Since I moved from the countryside to the city, autumn has become a mere harbinger of winter for me - and therefore of a time of darkness and cold.
But this year, I paused for a moment and remembered my childhood in the countryside and how I perceived the seasons in a completely different way.

Back then, autumn was a wonderful time, full of warm colors and ripe fruit that nature provided before winter. I used to go for walks in the woods with my family and collect the most exciting colorful leaves to bring autumn, with all its shapes and colors, into our home.

When we grow up and are caught up in the daily routines of city life, it is all too easy to forget this magic we once felt. But it is therefore all the more beautiful not only to rediscover it, but also to preserve it.
