I’m smiling here because of the @asiantrailmix cheer station and seeing my wife @marameasor a minute before, but man… mile 10 and 11 of the NYC Half were tough ones, with the temp pushing 60 degrees plus 97% humidity.
Learnings for next time: 1) Gotta keep my head up instead of slumping when feeling tired. 2) Remember to dump water on the head at aid stations to cool off. 3) Consider carrying a small handheld bottle for hydration / dumping on head.
Things I tried and plan to do again: 1) Getting a hotel room close to the start line. 2) Using hand warmers in the corral and first few miles during transitional temps instead of gloves — thank you @jo___lees!! 3) Go for a donut run with @douginqns the night before. 4) Wear my Flite XT Signatures — launching on the @swiftwicksocks website next week!
Everything said and done, I was grateful to PR the half by 7 minutes. I know it’s gonna get harder from here… but I guess that’s what coaches are for! cc @lauren0sborne @jdcunningham97

In any case… I’m excited to share a bit more about the jacket I had tailored by the fine folks at @prologuehongkong, which you can read about in today’s edition of @spr.ezza (link in bio!).
In the same way that Crazy Rich Asians was transformational in terms of reframing Asian storylines for a Western audience, I touch on the heritage that Prologue draws upon — not just Neapolitan and Florentine style, but also a proud Chinese tailoring tradition that I hope helps to remind the #menswear crowd that quality doesn’t just come via a “Made in Italy” label.
Don’t get me wrong — I love my English-made shoes from @crockettandjones_official and my American-made OCBDs from @brooksbrothers’ old factory in North Carolina, but I also love my (gasp) new Chinese-made jacket, which has a tradition and lineage all its own.

PS As a slight aside, I wanted to give a shoutout to @thekirkland, who should get credit (in an often homogenous menswear world) for featuring a diverse cast of Asian menswear folks on @blamopodcast, from @briobeijing, @andrew3sixteen, and @jiandeleon to @jeanneyangstyle, @wei_koh_revolution, and @jeffstaple. And thanks to @dlusanity for inspiring me to be more thoughtful and vocal about Asian / Asian-American identity.

Last month, @colelearn won Men’s Pro gold at HYROX Chicago in our collab socks, followed by @jack.d.fitness topping the podium at HYROX Dallas.

I’ll be posting up at mile 20.5 with @asiantrailmix and our friend @jen.post, who will be joining our team for the day to capture all of the race day fun on camera. I’ll also be running the @orchardstreetrunners Prototype Race the night before, which I’m grossly undertrained for, but it should be a great time nonetheless!
Our NYC Marathon sock sold out same-day online, but a few pairs still remain at @brooklynrunningco, so be sure to swing by if you have a moment.

So proud of @runguy for completing the @chimarathon today, his first world marathon major! Alex was not only my coach when I trained for my first half last year but also paced me for my first marathon back in May.
I’m so grateful for this guy’s commitment to running and community — it made all the difference for my own experience diving back into the sport. Congrats my man!!! 🎉
