When participants join Mau (@maudac) and his co-workers on an Aire Libre (@AireLibre.run) experience, they immediately become part of “la familia,” or the family.

Aire Libre experiences are intentionally designed to build community. Participants work together and are invited into a safe space where everyone can be themselves.

“These spaces that we create are not races, are not challenges. There are amazing spaces to do that, but this is not all that in that space. And when we’re going to move, we’re going to move as a unit and as a family, and we’re going to be taking care of each other.There’s nothing like a first place and the last place. We begin and we all finish together.”

Mau has made lifelong friends through experiences and knows many others have as well. Aire Libre leaves participants profoundly moved and deeply transformed. When asked what his recipe was in building la familia, Mau responded: “So it’s a bit of all of these components, you know, stirred up with a bit of salsa and a lot of love.”

Absolute gratitude. Not every day do you get the chance to run a truly beautiful half marathon side by side with your dad, with your wife, and your mum out on the course cheering you all on.

The power of one word: #YET.
A recipe for a life performed mindfully.

It needs three essential ingredients, served in equal proportions: Yet, Practice, Mindfulness.

33.3% Yet: the realm of possibility.

The creative, forward-propelling
energy that gets us out of bed every morning.
What we day and night dream of achieving.
The first marathon we want to run.
The new PB we’re chasing.
The new job we’re seeking.

33.3% Practice: what makes the master.

How the yet doesn’t remain a fantasy, but becomes reality.
The everyday grind.
The hard work.
The sweat, the tears, and the joy.
It’s walking the talk.

33.3% Mindfulness: the most important piece of the puzzle.

Something we are reminded of often, yet constantly forget.
It’s not about the Yets.It’s about the journey.
It’s being present and feeling all the feels.
Not fixing our gaze only on the carrot, but taking the time to look up at the sky and down at the earth.
Breathing in and out.

Because only those who truly live in the present are building their future.

Take these three ingredients, shaken, not stirred, and you have a beautiful guide for how to navigate — and dance gracefully through — the human experience we all share.
