Fun find while searching fruitlessly for something else: 2003 me was full time assistant editing on Cahuenga, and the Ontario Vans Park bike sessions were Tuesday and Thursday
for a luxurious 2 hours, between 7-9pm (iirc).
The 6’ spine ramp was worth it as a sort of therapy- which was cancelled out by the rush hour drive to get there on the #totallyjammed 10 or 60 (insert #TheCalifornians theme song)
But the best part was always deep conversations on life with @walterpieringer, who cheered me on to capture this #proofofriding 😅
Even if my newly reconstructed right leg was always 15 frames slower than anything I was trying to accomplish.

This was at a Roots comp (2001?) just before finals and how I’ll always remember him.
This is exactly who he was.
Genuine, positive, serious.
He understood and believed in whatBMX could be, bringing us together for the best times by allowing the freedom to just be us.
So many ridiculous moments captured behind my lens because of (and with😇) this dude… but this one says it all.

I had the honor of archiving and editing together this little video for @osbmxrofficial celebrating the #iconic Dyno BMX Freestyle Team of Brett Hernandez, Dave Voelker, and Dino Deluca.
One of THE most influential teams you could see back in the day.
Huge appreciation to @john_povah @xaviermendezbmx and everybody behind the scenes that worked all the logistics and made this special event happen, which was also the LAST hurrah for @woodwardwest.
And @bobmorales … what a legend, still innovating!
