Cleansing in more ways than one 💧

For over a month, I've stepped away from my vices—weed, vaping, and the occasional drink. I used to think I needed weed for creativity, but quitting has made me feel clearer, just as creative, and more efficient in my work. Now, I'll save these substances exclusively for social occasions, if at all. It's been a refreshing journey, shedding habits that held me back.

While editing this video, I couldn't help but laugh at the vanity of spending hours creating content of myself in the shower for social media. But alas, here it is... Sometimes, the best ideas come from getting a little wet 😅

🌈 Pride Month Reflections 🌈

In celebration of Pride Month, I wanted to share a bit of my journey. The pink, blue, and purple depicted in these images represent the bisexual flag.

Growing up, I was often labeled and judged for my sexuality. People who didn't know me would tell me I was gay, which used to cause me to feel shame and embarrassment, as it was often pushed upon me in a negative light. I felt pressured to assert that I was straight. It was confusing and challenging, and for a long time, I struggled to accept and understand my own sexuality.

Through years of personal growth, I've allowed myself to embrace the fact that I am bisexual and can have meaningful connections with both men and women. Despite spending seven out of the last ten years in committed relationships with women. I still often find myself having to convince others that I do actually love and prefer the company of women.

This post doesn't really feel like "coming out" as bisexual, but more so, me coming out as not just being gay. It's important to note that the stereotype that someone with a feminine demeanor and soft nature must be gay, is limiting and inaccurate.

Today, I proudly stand as a bisexual man, celebrating the diversity of love and attraction.

Let's celebrate love in all its forms and support each other in our unique journeys. Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈✨

I'm taking a leap back to where it all began - my personal account! For those who might've missed it, I've moved my photography endeavors to @by.mikeyhearson for portraits and @afterdarkmedia.au for events, while this account returns to its roots as my personal space.

As a photographer who loves to play with lighting, I often find myself in frame during setup. So why not capture those moments too? It's a way for me to share the diversity of my studio work without adding too much to my plate.

I understand this shift might not resonate with everyone here, and that's okay! For those interested solely in photography content, I invite you to follow @by.mikeyhearson and @afterdarkmedia.au

Now, the reasoning behind this transition: this account has always been my primary mode of communication, and redirecting everyone elsewhere would be a challenge. Plus, with additional team members managing my other accounts, keeping this one personal feels right.

Some of you may recall the growth spurt from 2017-2018 when I shared images of myself regularly, using Instagram as a tool for personal growth. It was a pivotal time, aiding in my rehabilitation journey and boosting my confidence. However, as life evolved, so did my priorities, leading to a hiatus and a shift towards solely photography content.

But here's the thing: I miss the freedom to share openly without worrying about the 'perfect grid.' So, consider this account a canvas for my personal and professional journey, where I'll share not just myself, but also insights into larger projects and snippets of my life.
