It’s been well over a year since BZ graced us with one of his sets, and we’ve missed him. Founder of @rhythmsectionhq , one of the most beloved labels and party series to ever come out of London. He needs no introduction here.

A standout presence within the new guard of selectors, Ed Kent has spent over a decade honing his craft and carving out a distinct voice defined by an unshakable sense of conviction and commitment. His no-limits approach to selection and genre-hopping has earned him a place on some of the country’s most esteemed lineups, where he has sought to challenge expectations and sidestep current trends in favour of timeless sonic exploration. Forgotten House B-Sides, rolling Techno Tools and Deranged No Wave Curveballs all land in the mix with considered intent, resulting in an experience which is both unpredictable and enthralling.

Refuge Presents Stev Zar

25th April 7pm to 1am

@stevzar weaves worlds when she performs. She defies conventional genre borders and draws inspiration from diverse musical references, creating a singular and engrossing sound environment. Her distinct percussive and bass-heavy style blends familiar sounds of house and techno with experimental electro and notes of acid and breakbeat folded into the chaos. The aim is body euphoria, her sets intend to balance playfulness and a tiny bit of chin-stroking to create a sound that deeply resonates with dancefloor champions. Her goal is to challenge her audience to move beyond genre to connect with the heart of the sound.

Enter the underwater realm where dub, deep & progressive sounds converge. Submerge yourself in the underground and underwater currentz while we take you on a journey from the sea floor to the surface @thequivr 2-7pm on the 18th of April. Ticket link in bio!

Dub techno & deep house will anchor the beginning of our journey in the benthic zone and progressive sounds (think: reflex blue) will guide our ascension to the surface. Expect visuals and decorations reminiscent of our world’s beautiful underwater biome. Your marine guides for this journey will be @miracle.passing & @eastaustraliancurrentz

The idea of the “selector” is something of a double-edged term in dance music. It suggests a certain genre-agnostic approach to DJing, with an emphasis on the obscure and esoteric, and a deep seated knowledge and understanding of dance music history. However, more often than not, it’s a polite way of describing self-indulgent, pretentious and shockingly boring sets. Thankfully, @freesugarfree very much belongs in the former category.

One of the most exciting and respected DJ’s on the planet, she has been pushing weird and wacky dancefloor obscurities out of their hometown of Madrid for well over twelve years now, breaking through on the back of excellent sets at festivals such as Butik, Dekmantel and Houghton, and her excellent debut EP “Disociando” on renowned wax label Icelab. A vinyl specialist, she eschews the stuffy, self-serious tendencies of crate digging to offer a quirky, tech-centric take on house and techno, with smatterings of minimal, trance, EBM, Italo and synth oddities. Think cosmic, expansive, hypnotic and unpredictable. If you’re not already familiar with her work, prepare to have your mind blown!

On support duties we have some of our cities finest deck gremlins in the form of @_puskyy._ , @joshismyfirstname , @jaxson.samuels and @creasedvenetian to take us to many an unexpected realm.
