🌷Honored to host ‘Nocturne’ Opening Friday, May 1st, 5-9pm at The SEABA Center! Enjoy the artwork and stay for the music of Cal Humberto from 8-10pm. Expect new gorgeous paintings and lovely people to experience it with.

‘Nocturne’ is an exploration of night paintings by Katharine Montstream and large format flowers by her daughter Charlotte Dworshak.

Darkness is not something many embrace; it seems most enjoy sunshine and blue skies. Montstream challenges this using watercolor and large canvases for oil paintings, creating a body of work that embraces the time of day when the sun goes down.

Dworshak explores darkness with bright, colorful florals as a reflection of grief. While the colors and structures of the flowers in her paintings remain consistent, their forms: petals, stems and backgrounds, shift, mirroring grief’s changes from day to day and moment to moment.

The work really is a sight to be seen. Join us at the opening and again for the month of May, Thursdays - Saturdays from 11am-5pm. 🌷

Sage, I asked you if you would be my art coach to evaluate paintings, focus on accountability and make some goals. We did that and so much more- you showed me how to varnish, introduced me to new brushes and encouraged me to rearrange and declutter my studio. When I told you what I wanted to paint for the exhibit, you said “Why? You already know how to do that.” I loved your directness and how you pushed me in all the ways I needed. Last year it felt like I was dog paddling in a circle- desperate for someone to throw me a buoy.Working with Sage has been transformational for me and I’m so grateful for her keen eye and ability to articulate how to push me forward.

Thanks for your patience and joining me in this exhibit… watching your work grow, pivot and develop makes me so proud. I certainly don’t know everything, but I knew you had talent when you were little… watching you harness it has been an extraordinary experience for me.
