What does it take to pull off a motion picture-level trailer for @iamcardib? A mountain. A mansion. And a crew that moves mountains.

From massive cranes, scissor lifts, lights mounted to condo doors, and an electric generator that barely worked (lol)… to early call times and nonstop hustle — this shoot was nothing short of legendary.

The scale of this production was WILD. A giant house built into the side of a mountain became our set. And none of it would’ve happened without the insane dedication, prep work, and teamwork from the BEST crew in the game. Every single department showed up and showed out to bring this vision to life.

A very well executed wall spreader rig to accommodate some heavy lamps in a very expensive location this past week. Take the time, do it right, avoid causing damage to the location and always keep it clean! Here we used 6” ladder truss makers from @modernstudioequipment for rigidity, we padded the feet of the spreaders, also from modern studio equipment. To handle the weight of the rig we asked permission to throw a few screws in to keep rig from slipping and then added a speedrail safety through the skylight. The rig was built and installed by my best boy Dan Conner @512customs

Today’s shoot required a controlled shooting environment. We were on a very crowded location with multiple units shooting at the same time. To make life easier for everyone we built our own studio/ Black Box to shoot in. Nestled in an 18’x18’ square of driveway we built the 18’x18’x18’ tent. Perfectly built to move 12’x12’ frames and a variety of lights and props and cameras in and out. The video was Directed by @rodriguez and shot by DP @gordydestjeor Gaffer @monty_sloan Key Grip @mpolanski80 Here we are recreating the classic shot from Van Halen’s Hot For Teacher Music Video. We used a JL fisher Ten Camera dolly @jlfisher_inc , along with 6”x6” mod truss @buildmodulusx , custom Mitchell to mod truss, mod truss adjustable offset and the UFO leveling head @ghostmachineworks . This was the perfect amount of offset to get us out over the tables to achieve only one of the shots in our very ambitious two days. Lots of cameos in this video!
