My Guardian Angel 🍀

I️ knew a real life superhero. Although he didn’t have magical powers, wings, or a cape, he was mighty and perfect even though perfect doesn’t exist. He touched so many hearts. The world knew him as a world class gentleman and an outstanding athlete/basketball player “JoJo White #10,” but I️ knew him as an amazing father.He loved unconditionally, he always picked me up and dusted me off, he supported all of my dreams, he showed me how to put God first, he told the best stories, and he always knew what to say to make me feel better. But, amongst all things, he believed in me more than I️ believed in myself.

I can still hear a ball dribbling in the driveway and our footsteps as we played HORSE. He would make some ridiculous shot before I️ had to go next and look back at me saying, “I️ know you saw that.” I️ still hear him yelling, “board!” at my basketball games, telling my teammates and I️ to get the rebound. When I️ close my eyes, I️ hear his laughter as he chuckles at his own jokes and we both die laughing in the corner. I still feel his grip on my hand as I️ hold it while I️ help him walk or as he lays in the hospital bed.

I️ miss you already dad and no time would have been the right time to say goodbye. But, when I️ look up, I️ find comfort in the fact that you’re in a better place and that you finally got your superhero wings that stretch across the length of the sky. You will be with me always. My superhero, my guardian angel, my perfect 10. As promised, I️ will never forget, in life to always make it count and if I️ truly want something, I️ will put the time in. What an amazing legacy you’ve left…. “I️ know you saw that,” ....yes. Yes dad, I️ did!

LOVE AND MISS YOU ALWAYS!
