I remembered tricks and tips learned from various workshops I’ve attended with and @pelahkitchen and the cake recipe is from @birdhousebakeshop and @allegradagostini workshop in Vancouver last summer 😉 And thanks to Liz and Allegra for putting me on to @flourist as it’s the only flour I use now — the absolute best! Oh and Rose Sugar from @kalustyans really brings the rose flavor home AND it’s why the cake is slightly darker.

Attractive ✨ Durable ✨ Authentic. Three words I would definitely use to describe my dad.

I felt compelled to pull off the road on Wednesday, somewhere in southern Utah and take some pics of this Galion blade tractor… my dad always had @caterpillarinc tractors… but the blade was his main tractor.

I recently found some Polaroids of my parents with the first @caterpillarinc blade my dad bought. I haven’t taken a pic with a blade in a long while so it felt special to be able to do that on my dad’s birthday week.

I took a lap around the tractor and took some pics and came to the other side and found this Harristone box. I don’t take this to be a coincidence but rather a message that my dad is always close to me, no matter how far he (and my mom) sometimes feel.

So today, on his 76th birthday I’m sharing this moment. I swear the desert is growing on me and I felt the magic of that land while there this week. I love you always, Dad! “Huggie” as he says 💜🚜

if you know me know me you know that I basically *never* wear make up - don’t own it - don’t know how to put it on - and don’t care to learn! but for Carnegie Hall, ya girl had to step it up!

and aside from all of that, it gave me a minute to take care of ME in the midst of taking care of everyone around me and every detail. It gave me a minute to sit and be silent and to reflect on all the hard work that went into this show. this moment. this accomplishment. for both key and myself ✨

back in 2022 I met @iamsamanthaboncy at an @intljazzday event at the UN when she did @lizzwrightmusic make up. Lizz and I have then worked with Samantha for a few other events Lizz has had over the years. I was toying with the idea of getting my make up done and got the extra push from @thecarlagibsonshow to just treat myself! Since I already knew her I knew that I would be comfortable and happy with the outcome but I didn’t expect to feel so seen and heard (without even saying much!) and she did a wonderful job. If you’re a NY girly, definitely hit her up for your next special event 💋💄 Thank you so so much @iamsamanthaboncy!!

Some of yall have been commenting on my curls and I gotta give it up to @nychairstylist_gabby for the fire hair cuts she’s given me over the past year ish. My last cut was in DECEMBER?! With a touch up in FEB. My curls have been curling just right ➰

Outfit… honestly I’m kinda a basic b. Some thought my shirt was designer but if you guessed Marshall’s you guessed right 🔔 pants I got in Belgrade, Serbia while visiting my cousin @steviecharrison a couple of years ago and the shoes, though they are adidas they’re also from Marshall’s! But this was the perfect fit with pockets, shoes I could power walk in and I will be wearing this again!

I planned to wear gold jewelry but of course, forgot! that’s just the type of girlie I am! 🫠🙃🤪

the artist-manager relationship is an interesting one. the manager is always creating the space for the artist to be an artist, while moving quietly in the background, keeping all the parts in place.

it’s not just the singular artist either, the role extends to the band members, booking agents, promoters, production teams, marketing, pr, guest list — the list goes on. i always aspire to lead with a level of care, consideration and kindness as I want the folks around me to feel seen and heard. and when I give, it’s from my heart ❤️ I don’t know any other way to do it.

Instead,I’ve felt reinvigorated, inspired and have a razor sharp focus. these pictures from @ogata_photo capture the pure joy we all felt that night — a joy that I’ll always remember and these photos will serve as a reminder on days when I need it the most.

Headed to EWR, by way of NJT via Penn Station. Called Uber, left home, picked up my cat sitter and then dropped her off and continued on my way to Penn Station. Normally I take the A but today had to give her my keys.

At some point I realize we are taking 57th to 7th to Penn. I happen to be sitting on the left side of the car… roll my window down and there’s the poster of @keyonharrold outside of @carnegiehall. Looking forward to Saturday, omw to LA first! 🤪
