Meet our Jury Member for the AFFC Storytellers Film Lab and Industry Showcase, June Akinyi Ndinya.

June Akinyi Ndinya is a Nairobi based film and television producer with twenty years of experience and hundreds of hours of content across TV drama series, children’s programming, music videos, documentaries, and commercials. She has played an integral role in the success of several hit television shows in Kenya and beyond and is widely recognised for her creative leadership. She has received multiple award nominations, including an International Emmy nomination for her show Prefects.

She is known for directing major drama series including MTV Shuga Mashariki, Selina, and Mali, as well as the Peabody nominated children’s series N Gen, filmed across Africa and broadcast globally.

June’s work is strongly grounded in gender advocacy. Her films highlight the lived experiences of women and girls while addressing gender inequality and amplifying female voices. She consistently supports productions that promote gender equality, champion education for girls, and confront gender based violence. Through her storytelling, she uses film to inspire awareness, encourage dialogue, and support social change.

As a media lecturer and mentor, June is committed to supporting young women entering the film industry and encouraging them to expand their vision of what is possible within a male dominated space. She is known for her resilient, determined approach and her readiness to lead creative productions from concept to action.

June brings to the jury panel two decades of film and TV experience, creative leadership, and a strong focus on gender advocacy, enabling her to evaluate both the craft and social impact of the films while mentoring emerging storytellers.
