Today I finally met in person with my Call & Response partner Gregory at Friends & Family in East Hollywood.
We brought our sketchbooks and loose pages and literally covered the table with works in progress – redacted texts, city fragments, landscapes, found envelopes, memories in color.
It was very helpful to see how our “calls” and “responses” sit next to each other: two artists, two voices, the same city, the same news, different angles.
We talked about our upcoming book for the fair: around 10–12 spreads, a quiet visual dialogue about the world outside and our inner responses.
Next step: choose the strongest pairs, decide on the sequence and start thinking about maybe also printing book.
