There Are Too Many Grieving Poets, inspired by the sheer volume of grief in the scene.

Having lost my own father (five years ago now, unfathomably) I find this is the C/W that keeps catching me out at poetry nights - a lot of you out there are powerful, resonant and beautiful with your grief.

Filmed at the phenomenonal @onenightslam (while I was hosting, bloody cool stuff) by my wonderful other Lewis brother, @tyronelewiscreative - who I also ripped off for the core concept (read: homage).

Since the start of this year, I have lost two pregnancies. 
 
I wanted to keep them quiet, until I had something positive to outweigh the heartbreak. 
 
But what is a miscarriage if not something you hoped for? A dream you’ll spend much of your waking hours ruminating on. And yet, they often live in silence. 
 
Stigma and shame have made this an experience many feel they have to endure, talk about only when they reach their dream or, perhaps, never. 
 
If my neighbour can tell me about his dreams of renting a skip every time I see him, we should be able to talk about this.

TB to this poem at @onenightslam ,because every child, everywhere, deserves the right to live, to laugh, to play, to feel safe, to grow old. Not some children. Not children with the “correct” or “right” passport. Every child.
The UN didn’t write these articles for decoration. They exist because history has shown us what happens when the world looks away. They exist because children should never be buried beneath politics, silence, occupation or war.
And all children have rights
The right to life.�The right to protection.�The right to play. To come home.

And it’s important that we keep talking. Because silence has never protected the innocent, and forgetting has never prevented history from repeating itself.
We cannot forget what is happening.�And we cannot ignore what might happen next.
