We are delighted to invite you to experience the Occidental College Studio Art Senior Comps Exhibition—”Interwoven”! This showcase highlights the culminating projects of eight graduating seniors, representing years of research and technical creative mastery.
Opening Reception: April 30, 6-8pm
🗓 Dates: April 30 – May 16, 2026
📍 Location: OXY ARTS (4757 York Boulevard)
Interwoven threads the tensions between abstraction and legibility, presence and absence, permanence and transformation. Through varied material and conceptual approaches, the exhibition contests static assumptions about the nature of being. By weaving introspective reflection with broader cultural contexts, viewers are invited to consider their own position within these layered networks. Interwoven opens space for new ways to understand ourselves and, in turn, how we shape and are shaped by the environments we inhabit.
Exhibiting Artists:
Liv Peterson, Lucy Roberts, Peyton Resto, Schuyler Simon-Thomas, Lucas Donovan, Zandra Sweeney, Olivia Johnson, Nicole Anderson
We hope you will join us!
Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓🎨

We’re honored to announce Tanya Aguiñiga as the 2026-27 Wanlass Artist in Residence. During her residency, she will teach a Fall 2026 Occidental College course, and will mount a solo exhibition at OXY ARTS in Spring 2027.
Oxy students! We encourage you to enroll in Aguiñiga’s Fall 2026 course, “ARTS290 Art Outside the Bounds: Fiber Art + Community” (CRN 1461), a hands-on studio class centered around textile or fiber processes and exploring the varied ways that textile arts can be used in solidarity with social justice movements. No prior fiber art experience is required.
Aguiñiga is an artist, designer, and craftsperson, whose work draws upon Mesoamerican weaving and traditional forms and materials. She often collaborates with other artists and activists to create sculptures, installations, performances, and community-based art projects. Drawing on her upbringing as a binational citizen, who daily crossed the border from Tijuana to San Diego for school, Aguiñiga’s work speaks of the artist’s experience of her divided identity and aspires to tell the larger and often invisible stories of the transnational community.
Aguiñiga began her career by creating collaborative installations with the Border Art Workshop/Taller de Arte Fronterizo, and she co-built and for six years ran a community center in Tijuana, aimed at utilizing arts initiatives to bring attention to injustices facing the local community. In 2016, in response to the deep polarization about the U.S.-Mexico border, Aguiñiga created AMBOS (Art Made Between Opposite Sides), an ongoing series of projects that provides a platform for binational artists.

Our 2026 visiting curator is Umi Hsu @wfumihsu, a scholar and practitioner whose work spans public and historical humanism, technology and sound.
Oxy students! Enrollment is open for Hsu's Fall 2026 course "Curating Trans History: Archives, Art, and Politics" (CRN 1462), a theory + praxis course exploring the erased cultural and artistic practices of transgender and gender-diverse people.
Hsu will be curating OXY ARTS’ fall exhibition entitled "Hold Each Other’s Hand" and co-presented with @oneinstitutela. The exhibition will explore historical practices of trans mutual aid and animate the spirit of mutualism through contemporary works of art. Part archival and part contemporary art, the show will draw from @onearchivesusc to foreground mutualism as a relational model to bring together art and politics, two pillars in trans and queer survival in history. To contextualize today’s practices of mutual aid, the exhibition will provide a space for expansive thinking and public dialogue around relationality, collectivity, co-existence, coalitions, support, and care.
Commissions by contemporary artists Leslie Foster, Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai, Salvador de la Torre, Xixi Edelsbrunner, Wesleigh Gates, and Whisper (fka Sammie Veeler) will respond to and extend these archival histories, treating the archive not as a static record but as a living resource for collective inquiry. A series of public programs will further extend the exhibition's reach, centering the work of contemporary mutual aid practitioners and cultural workers.
Umi Hsu has published extensively on digital media, data, and Internet culture, taught at ArtCenter College of Design and the University of Southern California, and holds a PhD in Critical and Comparative Studies from the University of Virginia. Their fellowships and awards include recognition from the American Council for Learned Societies, Shuttleworth Foundation, LA Metro, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Fresh paint has made a big impact at the Hillside Theater 🎨 thanks to a new 5,000-square-foot mural. The artwork was imagined by local artist Andrew Armstrong (who was inspired by @oxyarts’ “Flesh of the Forest” exhibit) and painted with the help of Oxy students. Thank you to Janette Sadik-Khan ’82 for funding the project, who was inspired by her work on Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Asphalt Art Initiative.

Exhibition walkthrough with Roksana Pirouzmand at OXYARTS. @oxyarts
The exhibition explores in-between spaces—between the body and the landscape, the dream and the domestic sphere. In the installation, the audience is no longer just a spectator; our bodies become conduits for cause and effect, fragility and force. It is a beautiful show that evokes a deep sense of interconnectedness and impermanence. Please don’t miss it!
Thank you, Roksana @roksanapirouzmand for the walkthrough and share your idea on the connections between artist, artwork, and audience.
.
Special shout out for those who stay and hang out after the event! It was nice spending more time together!

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
Keep track of Instagram updates discreetly while protecting your privacy and staying anonymous.
View profiles and photos anonymously with ease using the Private Profile Viewer.
This free tool allows you to view Instagram Stories anonymously, ensuring your activity remains hidden from the story uploader.
Anonstories lets users view Instagram stories without alerting the creator.
