A stay in hospital created a small setback for the litter, putting socialization on pause while they focused on healing. Now that they're feeling better, they're finally getting to experience all the things puppies should be learning and doing, like building confidence, playing, learning routines, and discovering that the world isn't such a scary place after all.

To date, caring for these five puppies has cost the rescue $46,136. Ongoing expenses still include additional vaccines, follow-up care, and specialized food to help their digestive system recovery we properly.

A huge shoutout to Maureen @centeredbodyrmt for her generosity and support of Paws It Forward.

Last month, Maureen donated $10 from every massage appointment and raised an amazing $520 to help support the dogs in our care. Her kindness and big heart truly make a difference.

Bringing live pet sketches to @bowl_n_brew this Saturday, May 23rd from 3-6pm! 🐾

Come get a hand-drawn sketch of your pet while you bowl, eat, and drink. Dogs can join the fun on the patio! Even if your pup can’t make it, bring a clear photo of them to work from ✍🏻

A portion of proceeds from this event goes directly to @pawsitforward a local dog rescue here in Kelowna 🐶

Sketches are $40 and take ~20 minutes each. Waitlist is first-come, first-served (any portrait queued beyond event time will be completed and arranged for pickup/delivery with the artist as soon as possible) 🧡

When we bring a dog into rescue, our hope is always the same - to give them a future filled with love, comfort, safety, and happiness. That was exactly what we wanted for Kaly.

Before arriving in our care, Kaly had already endured so much. While in LA, her front leg was amputated due to a severe deformity. Sadly, once she arrived with us, it became clear that her remaining front leg was also causing her significant pain. After extensive veterinary assessments, we learned she had severe arthritis throughout all the major joints in that leg, making mobility incredibly difficult and painful for her.

We tried everything we could, including multiple pain medications and anti-inflammatory treatments, but unfortunately nothing gave her the relief she deserved.

After many heartbreaking conversations and a great deal of consideration, the difficult decision was made to let Kaly go peacefully. We could not bear the thought of her continuing to live in pain.

What made Kaly so unforgettable was her spirit. Despite everything she had been through, she was one of the happiest dogs you could ever meet. She always wore the biggest smile, loved everyone around her, and remained incredibly sweet and gentle. Anyone who met her instantly fell in love with her joyful nature.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Kim Crisanti at City Centre Vet and Dr. Edwards at Tri-Lake Vet for the incredible care and compassion they showed Kaly throughout her journey. We are equally thankful to her fosters, who opened their homes and hearts and gave our sweet girl so much love, kindness, and comfort.

Our rescue is grieving the loss of this very special girl, and we wanted to share this with our followers and supporters because we have always believed in being transparent - even when the news is painful.

Run free, sweet Kaly. You were deeply loved, and we will never forget you.💔

Right now, we urgently need TWO foster homes for the mamas and their babies for approximately 6–7 weeks.

🐾 One mama has 7 puppies
🐾 One mama has 8 puppies

The moms will need separate foster homes, ideally calm environments where they can safely raise their babies. A home without other dogs, or with a very easygoing dog, would be best while the moms are in full protective mama mode.

All supplies, support, and veterinary care will be provided.

As you may have seen, we recently welcomed a sweet group of doodles into our rescue from a breeder that reached out to us; and while they may look picture-perfect in photos, many of them are feeling very scared, unsure, and overwhelmed right now.

Unfortunately, early socialization and exposure to the world around them was very limited before coming to us. Because of that, many of them are understandably nervous, overwhelmed, and unsure in their new environments. Everyday things like new people, sounds, and experiences can feel very scary right now.

Our foster homes are giving them the time, patience, and gentle guidance they need to start building confidence and learning what it’s like to live in a home.

At this time, this group is NOT yet available for adoption. We ask for your patience while they settle in and while we take the time to truly get to know each dog and their individual needs. Their profiles will be updated as they settle in. Stay tuned for those!

Reminder to keep comments kind and supportive. Rescue looks different for every dog, and our goal is simply to help these dogs transition into their forever homes.

Rita is settling well into her new home and handling her recovery like a champ, although she does occasionally forget she is injured. She is happy as can be with her new family, who have been loving getting to know her and are looking forward to watching her grow up into an incredible adventure dog.

Just a beautiful Sunday morning snuggling with this angel. Lumos is our current foster and came from Manitoba with her litter mates. She is approximately 12/13 weeks old about 23lbs and incredibly cuddly and sweet, being a part of these pups stories is what makes fostering all worth it.
