In this exhibition, Alberto Peral intervened in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in a remarkably delicate way: through reflections and light, he makes the solid walls of the building appear to dissolve, revealing subtle shifts in spatial perception. The jury particularly praised the conceptual dialogue that Splashing Mies establishes with the pavilion, as well as the coherence and delicacy of each element, which transforms the viewer’s perception through minimal interventions.

👉🏻Una conversación entre el autor, Alberto Peral y Patxi Eguíluz (editor de Caniche).

👉🏻Splashing Mies recoge un proyecto del artista Alberto Peral en el Pabellón Alemán (Pabellón Mies van der Rohe) de Barcelona, diseñado por Mies van der Rohe y Lilly Reich para la Exposición Internacional de Barcelona de 1929. La intervención de Alberto Peral parte de los elementos constitutivos más reconocibles del edificio —los reflejos presentes en las piedras, vidrios, metales y superficies de agua, la mítica rigidez estructural y constructiva del genio alemán— para poner en crisis lo comúnmente aceptado. Con prácticamente un único elemento que ubica en distintos lugares y al que dota de diversos usos (vigas que no soportan, pilares que no son tal, cañerías como fuentes que rompen la quietud de los estanques), se plantea resignificar el mito, despojándolo de su sacrosanta frialdad, y así acercarlo al goce mediterráneo de las contradicciones que se muestran y del agua que fluye y nos salpica.

Alberto Peral (Santurce, Vizcaya, 1966) es un artista que, desde su primera exposición individual en 1992 en la Fundació Joan Miró de Barcelona, ha creado un recorrido conceptual para intentar mostrar la belleza de las formas más simples y esenciales así como el poder simbiótico que contienen estas. Su trabajo se caracteriza por la utilización de formas sencillas cargadas de un sugerente potencial simbólico. Por medio del color o de la geometría expresa planteamientos conceptuales de una gran complejidad. Su obra transita dibujo, fotografía, escultura, instalación y vídeo, pero su producción escultórica es la parte más reconocida.

👉🏻Splashing Mies recoge un proyecto del artista Alberto Peral en el Pabellón Alemán (Pabellón Mies van der Rohe) de Barcelona, diseñado por Mies van der Rohe y Lilly Reich para la Exposición Internacional de Barcelona de 1929. La intervención de Alberto Peral parte de los elementos constitutivos más reconocibles del edificio —los reflejos presentes en las piedras, vidrios, metales y superficies de agua, la mítica rigidez estructural y constructiva del genio alemán— para poner en crisis lo comúnmente aceptado. Con prácticamente un único elemento que ubica en distintos lugares y al que dota de diversos usos (vigas que no soportan, pilares que no son tal, cañerías como fuentes que rompen la quietud de los estanques), se plantea resignificar el mito, despojándolo de su sacrosanta frialdad, y así acercarlo al goce mediterráneo de las contradicciones que se muestran y del agua que fluye y nos salpica.

Aquest diumenge 1 de desembre, Alberto Peral (@peral_alberto) clausura la seva intervenció al Pavelló Mies van der Rohe presentant-nos 'Splashing Mies' en una publicació de Caniche Editorial (@canicheeditorial), produïda amb el suport de Matthew Liu Fine Arts Gallery (@matthewliufinearts).

Un llibre que transmet amb les imatges de Juan de Dios Jarillo (@juandediosjarillo) i els textos curatorials de David Mesa (@atejavana) la sensació que durant tres setmanes hem pogut viure al Pavelló de "L’aigua que brolla del gran cilindre de 30 metres de llargada situat a la coberta trenca la calma de les basses — l’únic reflex capaç d’ésser travessat — i posa de relleu la seva condició especular".
