How a custom saddle saved my cycling career⬇️
Ever since I started marathon mountain biking back in 2022, I’ve been battling a ghost. During high-intensity rides, right around the 2.5-hour mark, my legs would go completely numb. It wasn’t an arterial issue, but back then, no one could find the solution.
Then came 2023, and I broke my back. During my recovery, the problem faded, but as soon as I ramped up for the 2026 season, the nightmare returned.
I finally got my answer during a deep-dive bike fitting, and the data was shocking (swipe to see! 👉). It turns out my sit bones are exceptionally wide and my saddle wasn’t giving me the support I needed.
In the before/after video and postural shots, you can see I was literally “falling off” the edges of my old saddle. This forced my body to overcompensate, ruining my posture and crushing nerves. It was shameful to work this hard and train this intensely, only to have my power vanish because of a saddle that didn’t fit.
The Science:
I searched everywhere, but you can’t find what I need in a catalog. That’s when I reached out to @posedla.cc Using their Smiling Butt Kit, they mapped my unique anatomy and 3D-printed a Joyseat specifically for me. (Check out my “Birth Certificate” in the slides!)
The Custom Request:
I specifically asked for a version with no cutout. Traditional cutouts cause me severe skin irritation and chafing in the seating area during long marathons. Because of Posedla’s 3D-printed TPU lattice, the center is soft enough for pressure relief while the surface remains solid. No edges, zero irritation.
The Result:
The numbness is 100% gone. My posture is stable, and my power is back. Huge thanks to the team at @posedla.cc and @cyclofitt
