I’ll spend the next few days building this on site. That’s what the giant bags are for. They contain several large panel sections of rope nets I’ve been making over many many days at the studio working into and past the wee hours. I even worked on it at @tetheredtogether with help from good folks
The. Opening reception on April 1st. On April 5 I’m teaching a workshop at the museum on twine making and Japanese folk tales
The exhibition will be up through Oct 25!!

To close out 2024, we’re hosting our final screening of the year in London, in collaboration with @riotpartyuk
Objects of Desire Collective and La Sur Real Film Festival are collaborating to produce Putikino, a series of s3x work film screenings under the framework of “Nothing about us without us!”. Putikino prioritizes works made with and by s3x workers, focusing on films that break away from one-dimensional portrayals of s3x work and elevate intersectional wh0re-stories. What stories do you feel are important to record about your life or experiences? Is there anything about you, your culture, your community or experiences you've had which you feel is often misrepresented? How do you want to be remembered, and what details would you prefer were left out?
We started the Objects of Desire archive as a way for sex workers to take the archive of their lives into their own hands.
We face a lot of barriers to telling our stories. We work in secret because of criminalisation and social stigma. We face the threat of violence, and judgment of our family, friends and society. When we do speak, we are slotted into binaries of happy hooker, or exploited victim - assumed to be too privileged to be representative, or too oppressed to have a voice. We speak in a landscape saturated with images created by those telling stories about us - Hollywood movies, media reports, academic tirades.
In this workshop we will explain how and why we started our archive of sex worker's objects. We will then look at some of the stories we hold of love, joy, shame, fear, frustration and the boring day to day drudgery of work. Participants will then be invited to consider what stories they would like to tell about their experiences, what they'd prefer not to be recorded, and how they'd like these stories passed on.
We will prioritise those with experience of sex work who are comfortable talking about it, but everyone is welcome (and it will not be assumed whether someone is a sex worker or not).
