Girls aren't missing from science because they lack ability. They're missing because we've spent decades showing them a very specific image of who a scientist is, and it doesn't look like them.

That matters more now, not less. As AI reshapes every field, the students who'll thrive are the ones who believe they belong in the room. Confidence, identity, and a sense of possibility — those are AI readiness skills too.

This Mother's Day, we're celebrating all the working moms and are thrilled to highlight one of our own 💐

One of our team members recently shared her journey through parental leave, motherhood, and returning to work as a changed person. Her words stopped us in our tracks:

"I was fortunate enough to come back to a team who allowed me the space for my whole self, not just the version they had worked with before."

That's the culture we strive to build at Project Scientist — one where growth doesn't pause at the office door, and where life's biggest transitions are met with support, not pressure to snap back.

But we'll be honest: we know there's still more work to do. Longer leave. More equitable support for all parents, regardless of gender. Stronger structures that make it easier for every team member to return as their full, evolved self. As organizations across the country scale back parental leave benefits, we're doubling down on our commitment to the humans behind the work.

Because the best gift we can give working mothers isn't a card — it's a workplace that sees them whole.

Last month, alongside the @angelcreesefoundation, @2k Foundations, and the @livingclassroomsfoundation , female student-athletes joined our “ME Bound: The Science Behind Rebounds” workshop led by Angel Reese.

In 2025, we delivered 25,541 STEAM education experiences, reaching 3,073 girls through summer, after-school, and out-of-school programs. Supported by 266 volunteers and 153 educators trained in equitable teaching strategies, we’re expanding access, confidence, and opportunity in STEAM for the next generation.

Last month, we had a blast hosting a Team Day with @alconlife, where students explored creativity and technology through hands-on STEM activities. Huge thanks to the Alcon team and the Women Innovating Now employee resource group for making the day so impactful—and if you’d like to get involved, join a future Team Day or volunteer with us!
