i’ve seen myself in the light of someone else’s wishes for my expression. Yet, I have held my head high with plans of my own. Being selfish in the way I paint my experience and future is my right. Never will I bend myself backwards to attain a life someone else has expected me to have.

There is so much beauty to love in the darkness, instead of being scared of the absence of light, embrace what it can offer. I have always preferred the black cat, the starry sky, my black skin, the comfort of the night to the heat of the day. This black swan means to me my self preservation from the light and holy too many of us are expected to be.
