Upside: this song means a lot to me and I couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s out in the world. @rcleslie @wlly.daniels and I wrote ‘Upside’ together in Reid’s studio, 2 hrs later we called the legendary @chasewofford (1st take Chase) to lay down drums, then @josiedunne graced the tune with her beautiful BGVs and @nomakeupipromise sprinkled some magical pedal steel on it. It was an effortless process because the ingredients were pure. Couldn’t be more grateful to work on music with such incredibly talented lovely friends. Not to mention the cover art shot by the one and only @oceanna

The first song of @avi_kaplan EP is out today!I remember sitting on Avi’s porch listening through song options for this project and him playing “Healing” for the first time. I was immediately drawn in. There’s pain, sadness, familiarity all while still capturing a hopeful spirit. @danielellsworth brought all the soul on the keys @jbmookie’s piano part was turned into FX only and is hovering beautifully under the song the whole time. Grateful for all these incredibly talented musicians. Excited for this to be out there for everyone, and can’t wait for the rest of tunes to drop.
