It’s been a journey, to say the least. From the early days of screenplay narrations to recces and DooD meetings. From midnight adventures in Dahisar to 50°C under the blazing sun at the Sambar desert. From sautéed spinach and summer bird cocktails to Mexican salads and almond milk coffees. From the board room at Sony Pictures Network India to the pantry and cafeterias at the post studios in Andheri.

It’s been a journey of trust and faith. Of navigating difficult paths, making compromises, negotiating barters and finding creative solutions. Of salaamalekums and waalaikum assalaams (IYKYK!)

But most of all, it’s been a journey to try and tell an important story of one of the most difficult times in our history, at another very difficult time in this country. Of telling a story that needs to be told, that perhaps we need to be reminded of.

I’ve been privileged to have had the trust and mentorship of @nikkhiladvani whose vision and tireless commitment to bringing our best selves and doing everything in our power to fight the good fight I greatly admire. And to have powerhouses like @onlyemmay and @madhubhojwani in our corner and having our backs.

Based on the bestselling book of by Larry Collin’s & Dominic LaPierre (who apparently came to our home for dinner when I was four years old!), this series recounts, with depth and authenticity, the socio-economic dynamics, personalities and events including the partition of India that led to India’s independence.
