Here in Montreal, we’re making time for some investigative journalism. @rj_cham is giving us a Black history tour of the city. Canada has an interesting and often hidden history that connects Black people to the U.S. in powerful ways.

Big thanks to @rj_cham for the tour and @stevensjcharles for connecting the dots. #eylcanada 🇨🇦

Community is currency.

Beyond visibility and engagement, building a brand that truly connects takes trust, intention, and shared value.

This session explores the power of intentional community-building — and how real connection can open doors, create opportunities, and turn presence into lasting impact.

Photos from May 5th’s “Black Internationalism: The Historical Role of Montreal”.

It was an honour to have David Austin and @rj_cham speak on such an important topic! Likewise it was a pleasure to be able to host the event in the historic @unionunitedchurch, a place that has served as a communal and political sanctuary for our people for over a hundred years!

Thank you to everyone who attended, we hope this event was a catalyst for more community-oriented conversations and projects that build on the legacy of our peoples history in this city!

And thank you to @caribbean.food.factory for providing a delicious meal post panel!

24 hours in Rome, better late than never.

A city where every stone carries memory.

At the Monumento ai Caduti di Dogali (Dogali Monument), Italy commemorates soldiers killed in 1887 during its early colonial expansion in the Horn of Africa.
In Eritrea and Ethiopia, the same battle is remembered differently as resistance led by Ras Alula’s forces against colonial occupation.

Two memories. One event.

Nearby, Giardino Willy Duarte park honors Willy Monteiro Duarte, a 21-year-old Italian of Cape Verdean descent who was killed in 2020 while trying to defend a friend during a violent assault. His death sparked national reflection on violence, racism, and civic responsibility.

RIP Willy Duarte.

Public spaces are not neutral.
They tell stories of power, resistance, and dignity.
We choose what we remember. We choose what we honour.

We paused the salon last Tuesday for something our hearts needed 🖤

@rj_cham led a powerful Black history workshop, sharing truths about Black Canadian history and Canada’s role in the slave trade that many of us were never taught. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Rito is a true expert of his craft. He created space for us to name things, define them, and sit with them, even when it hurt. The conversations that opened up within our team were exactly what we needed. Inspired. Honest. Necessary. ✨

Some moments were heavy. Some grounding. All of it empowering in the way only truth can be.

Black history isn’t once a year. It’s woven into how we show up, how we care, and why this space exists. We have to keep investing in our community, our knowing, and our healing. 👩🏽‍🦱👩🏾‍🦱👩🏿‍🦱

Thank you, Rito, for holding space for us and for the work you continue to do. This is the work. 🖤

I just returned from Dakar, Senegal, where I had the honor of attending the Centenaire Frantz Fanon – L’espérance africaine de Fanon at the Museum of Black Civilizations (Musée des Civilisations Noires de Dakar).

For four days, thinkers, artists, historians, activists, economists, professors and organizers from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, the Americas, Oceania and all over the world gathered to reflect on Fanon’s legacy and what it means for today’s political and cultural landscape.

I had the privilege of speaking on the panel “On the African Diaspora and Its Frontlines,” alongside voices from Puerto Rico, Senegal, Martinique, Côte d’Ivoire, France and myself, from Haiti living in Montreal.
It was a powerful reminder that diaspora is not peripheral, but central to liberation work.

Beyond the panels, I learned new ways of decolonizing not only institutions but our spirits, minds, and imagination.

One quote echoed all week:
“Each generation must discover its mission, fulfill it, or betray it.”

I leave Dakar hopeful, enlightened and committed to continuing the work started by our ancestors many moons ago.

Ba beneen yoon.

Montreal!!

Join filmmaker Michèle Stephenson (@michele_0608) for the Quebec premiere of “True North” at @ridm_festival

The November 22 screening will be followed by a Q&A and panel conversation moderated by Nantali Indongo (CBC’s The Bridge), featuring Michèle Stephenson (filmmaker), Philippe Fils-Aimé (participant), Josette Pierre-Louis (participant) and Rito Joseph (@rj_cham community organizer / historian).

“True North” | The story of a student uprising on a Montreal university campus sheds light on the often-overlooked history of anti-Black racism in Canada. Through vivid archival footage and firsthand accounts from former student protestors, now in their 80s, the film reveals the true experiences of Black Canadians.

View Instagram Stories in Secret

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
