“Order and disorder are common states in our lives. While order seems to rule our normal lives, it’s nothing more than a mere illusion. Disorder is the default and we work and grow towards achieving order in our lives. As we shift the amount of energy we put on whatever aspect of life, the matters that receive more energy strive, but those that are disregarded, tend to become volatile and in need of attention.

Inspired by the works of Peter Tscherkassky, Kensuke Koike and Leyland James Kirby, ‘entro_p’ explores the path from order to disorder, by taking samples from real life, editing them digitally and bringing them back to my reality, in a dialogue between fragmented pieces of a whole.”

“Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered” - José Saramago
⠀
Ouroböros is a short dance film that reflects on the internal conflicts between the many voices inside our heads when we put reason above emotion. Intended to raise more questions than to answer them, Ouroböros is a piece with a surreal and mysterious streak that unfolds in an imaginary world, the result of an unsettling dream. Two sides of a table, two pairs of opposing doubles, in which they affect one another as a way to escape their unknown reality. In a world deluded by dualisms, a third pair joins the table, changing the rules of the game…

Inspired on the lesser known novel by Nobel Prize winner José Saramago “The Double”, Ouroböros was born as a choreography meant to explore the clash between memories and dreams, and how it could ultimately result in a double identity. Due to the global pandemic of 2020, it was adapted and idealised for film, and with it, the idea of exploring the three states of consciousness formulated by Sigmund Freud was brought to light. The conscious, subconscious and unconscious are intertwined in a concept rooted in the ways our life is "ordered" by our emotions, even though this may sometimes be inconvenient for our rationality in the making of decisions, parallel to cognitive dissonance, when two contradictory ideas appear to be true to the person, causing an internal conflict.
