#Ad HOW TO BUILD A RAISED BED | You don't need to be handy to build a raised bed. You just need to know three things 🌱

1. The right material. I used cedar deck board, pressure treated and built for ground contact so it won't rot when soil sits against it for years.

2. Trust the experts with questions. I love stopping by the Pro Desk at @ronaen. On this project they were such a big help with picking my lumber list and extra materials.

3. Build in the right order. Pre-drill everything. Three-inch wood screws. End pieces first, then the long sides. Add interior supports along those long edges before you close it up because soil is heavy and it will push.

Mine is 3 feet by 8 feet and about 18 inches high. High enough to sit on the edge and enjoy a beverage or get to weeding. Which for this mama is everything.

And listen, there are so many different ways to build a raised bed. This is simply one design I was keen to try. You can go as simple or as intricate as you like! What matters is knowing you can do it and grabbing the right materials for the job.

Built this cutie kids picnic table for $25! Measurements & details below 👇

We grabbed our materials from @ronaen, painted it with SICO exterior paint (kids picked the colour), and added an umbrella so the space stays cool!

💡If you don’t have all the tools, RONA+ can also help cut your wood pieces in-store

Cut List:

2x Seat supports (trapezoid) – 33” long side, 22.5° angled cuts

2x Tabletop supports (trapezoid) – 17” long side, 22.5° angled cuts

3x Centre supports – 25.5”

4x Legs (parallelogram) – 21”, matching 22.5° angled cuts

9x Boards (tabletop + seats) – 31” each

Directions:

Build the tabletop: Attach the 5 top boards to the 2 (17”) & 1 (25.5”) supports underneath.

Assemble legs: Attach legs to the tabletop supports on both sides to create the base.

Add seat supports: Attach the 33” supports across the legs on both sides. Then install the final 25.5” centre support between the seat supports for stability (use a scrap board as a spacer to keep everything even).

Add seat boards: Attach 2 boards per side to complete the benches.

Sand + finish: Sand everything smooth, then paint or stain
