Rosa Brunello @rosabrunello – We Are Surging Waters (@domandamusic)

Composer, bassist and double bassist Rosa Brunello — known for her seven studio albums and collaborations with the likes of Dee Dee Bridgewater and Maurice Louca’s Elephantine project — returns with We Are Surging Waters.

The album traces a line from jazz through Middle Eastern traditions, improvisation and dub, arriving at a sound that is multicultural and boundary-crossing while keeping rhythm firmly at its centre and an optimistic gaze fixed on the future.

Captured over just three days in June 2025 and largely shaped by improvisation, the album showcases an ensemble built on years of shared stage time, including dual drums on several tracks — giving the music the feel of a fluid yet compact big band crackling with live energy. The record features contributions from Yazz Ahmed, Tamar Osborn and Maurice Louca.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I will be playing my first live ambient trio gig at @jazzstroud_ on Saturday 11th April 2026 with @rosabrunello on bass and @tamarosborn on saxaphone and flutes. It is an absolute honour to be sharing the stage with two of the most gifted and respected musicians on the planet. Front of house duties will also be taken care of by the one and only @alex_fiennes. We look forward to seeing you in Stroud in April for an expansive, meditative and experimental sound exploration.
