and just like that, i have joined @iatselocal600 as an operator. i have a lot of feelings and not a lot of words besides this being a milestone of mine since pursuing a career in the film & tv business at the beginning of 2021. i feel extremely grateful for everyone i’ve met and helped me along the way, especially my mentor and friend @steadicamlessons

i remember back in 2013 going to community college not knowing what i wanted to do with my life. haphazardly picking classes to take, i decided to enroll in a film production course and finally felt that initial spark of creativity that i fell in love with. next year on a whim i decided to start attending film school at the academy of art.

there was a kid in my community college film course who i mentioned to that i was going to go to film school, and all he said to me was that it was very ambitious in not the most cheerful way. i’ve always been one to just do whatever makes me happy in the moment and you know, it was the best decision of my life — even tho i dropped out of film school two years later, switched to photography, back to film editing and now here we are lol (thank you to my parents x1000 for blindly supporting me along the way)

and lastly, thank you to my incredibly beautiful andsupportive wife. we met just a few months after i started this new journey and has been by my side through everything. i love you always ash.
