”Dance for 100 Ways to Stumble”

Open level contemporary dance and improvisation class that supports awkwardness and cultivates playfulness. Drawing from my own movement practice, I offer unruly variations of simple modern, postmodern, and contemporary techniques in solo and partner work. These approaches are explored through solo stumbles, partner exercises, and group improvisations.

Each session begins with a talk, followed by a physical warm-up with deep breathing, spinal mobilization, strengthening, and shaking. Movement exercises include improvisation scores, floor work, and choreographic sequences that engage with tension and release, stumbling, falling, and gathering, musicality, theatricality, and different approaches to touch. The classes close with a moment to land back into one’s own body.

This class is open to people of all ages and abilities who are curious about exploring their movement and expression. The invitation is directed especially toward queer, non-binary, and trans people, as well as anyone who may often feel hesitant to enter contemporary dance spaces.

”Dance for 100 Ways to Stumble”

Open level contemporary dance and improvisation class that supports awkwardness and cultivates playfulness. Honored to present »Confessions of an Ex-Perfectionist« Oct 10 & 11, 2025, steirischerherbst‘25 as part of herbst cabare

A feverish autobiographical radio show and an intimate living room concert—a gathering suspended somewhere between palliative confession and naughty storytime. Dog-eared notebooks open up with a patchwork of diary entries and memoirs of sex escapees. Stories about women who vanish and reappear in history’s footnotes, their migrations rewritten as love stories. Tales like wounds scabbed over.

Lau Lukkarila (they/them) is an artist from Finland’s Bay of Bothnia. Their performative works delve into the intersections of different disciplines, exploring will and wounds under the allures and demands of affect. Lukkarila studied at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki and the Royal School of Performing Arts in Madrid. Under the artist name “Schoßhund”, they have released three EPs: HEAVYCRUSH (2022), HUFKLANG (2020) and Super Like (2019).

Luca Bonamore and Lau Lukkarila are choreographers and performers that share an interest in kitsch, expressive play and make-believe as performative strategies for queer resilience and bliss. As they move through a choreography of tender intimacy and dramatic embodiment of their childhood icons, their stunning performance conjures personal as well as interpersonal memories and fantasies, tapping into the infinite potentials those might hold in store.
 
Karolina Preuschl is a musician, writer and visual artist. Fusing sound art and performance art, her work is characterised by the use of analogue synthesizers and voice to interpret self-written texts. Her performances are raw, witty and full of surprises. The playful punk improvises with electronics, noise, onomatopoeic sounds and vocal experiments at the very boundaries of the frequency spectrum to fuse different layers of meaning and interpretation in an uncompromising way.
