10 years ago today @jadewarshaw and I were performing our Whitney Houston show in South America. When we saw the news Prince had passed away I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Prince was so vibrant, so active, looked cool as ever, he was my musical hero….I didn’t want to believe the news was real.

Shortly after we saw the news our pastor @pastordhughescalled us and said “I know you guys must be devastated, what can we pull this upcoming weekend at @cbglades?” Instantly we knew what had to be done.

Jade and I flew home the next day (Friday) had a short rehearsal with the group and this video was Saturday night. I’m so grateful we were able to perform this with such a quick turn around. I’m playing piano, wearing sunglasses and crying my eyes out the entire time. Man it was emotional up there. I’ll never forget it.

Prince means a lot in our home, he inspired us greatly, to push ourselves both musically and career wise. To push beyond what was comfortable. We named our son after him and just by chance - from the ash comes beauty - as our daughter was born on this day April 21, so happy BDay to our little girl.

To say I am proud of @jadewarshaw would be an understatement. The work she put into writing this is big time. She wrote every word you will read, hours and hours of writing. What a feat to have accomplished!

This book right here is more than just a book to me. This is our story, 10 of the hardest years of our life written down on paper. The fight, the clawing and scratching, the honest truth. This is the raw story. How we climbed that mountain of debt ($460k) I’m SO grateful it is written down & I’m even more grateful that it may inspire someone to change their life. If I had been able to read a book like this 12 years ago I could have run through a wall! I would have known we weren’t the only ones!

I think I can speak for both of us when I say, we never dreamed this struggle would become this book.

I pray you read it and it helps you through whatever financial hang up you are going through. Truly.

This year for Halloween our family decided to dress up as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

It got me thinking about how much I loved those movies in the early 90s. Then I got to thinking about our 2 kids and what would make a memory they would never forget. Then @jadewarshaw said to me, “you are going to look so lame in a costume from the store, you at least something that covers your head”…..& she was right……

After digging around the internet I found the master of all Turtle suits and had to pull the trigger. What an artist!

It’s silly and fun and unnecessary but this is the kind of thing @jadewarshaw and I dreamed about when we fought tooth and nail to be debt free (not specifically a turtle suit 😂). It’s The ability & freedom to make choices for ourselves and our kids…..even if the only purpose is to have fun and make a memory.

So this year I’m living my 7 yr olds version of my best life and rocking a 25lbs TMNT suit. 😂🥷 🐢 #psgprops @propshopgarage

When @jadewarshaw and I were in the pit of $460,000 of debt (mostly Student Loans) it was the Ramsey show that was our daily motivation. It was our “gym” if you will for money.

5 years ago we did our debt free scream on the show. BUT TODAY! Today my ride or die, my wife @jadewarshaw was introduced on the freaking Ramsey show as the newest personality. What a life!

My hope and my prayer is that our story of being in that hole and clawing our way out inspires countless people to do the same. TRUST, if you are willing - Jade will kick your butt and motivate you on your journey.

Oct 25 marks the 5th anniversary of the day @jadewarshaw and I became debt free. $460,000 paid off (mostly student loans). It took us 7.5 years of deep sacrifice as well as working 7 days a week for years. Everyday @jadewarshaw and I climbed that mountain of debt and mistakes and shame together. In our minds there was no other choice but to climb.

Everyday of that journey was motivated by, encouraged by, yelled at us by @daveramsey on the Ramsey show. We listened and listened and listened again. We listened overseas as we traveled to 92 countries performing our show. We downloaded every episode we could. 12 hour plane rides on the regular were filled with the Ramsey show. Workouts at the gym - Ramsey show. Drives to the airport - Ramsey show. It kept us focused and motivated. Dave and @ramseysolutions showed us a way out of our mess and into a life of freedom that, at the time we could only dream about.

About 1000x I’ve heard @pastordhughes say “God can turn your bad break into your big break, Your Mess into your Message” ain’t that the truth. One of the heaviest burdens of our lives has turned into one of the greatest blessings of our life. What an honor to be right here today.

Oct 25 marks the 5th anniversary of the day @jadewarshaw and I became debt free. $460,000 paid off (mostly student loans). It took us 7.5 years of deep sacrifice as well as working 7 days a week for years. Everyday @jadewarshaw and I climbed that mountain of debt and mistakes and shame together. In our minds there was no other choice but to climb.

Everyday of that journey was motivated by, encouraged by, yelled at us by @daveramsey on the Ramsey show. We listened and listened and listened again. We listened overseas as we traveled to 92 countries performing our show. We downloaded every episode we could. 12 hour plane rides on the regular were filled with the Ramsey show. Workouts at the gym - Ramsey show. Drives to the airport - Ramsey show. It kept us focused and motivated. Dave and @ramseysolutions showed us a way out of our mess and into a life of freedom that, at the time we could only dream about.
