making film in the remoteness of South Karelia, home of my family, where the immense beauty of the scenery, vast storytelling tradition, and the geopolitical oddities- past and current- are deeply felt. I learned to swim in this body of water, taught by the women who learned before me, and always keep returning

During Cinedans FEST ‘26, Cinedans LAB brings together movement and cinema in the refined setting of 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙖, an acclaimed workshop designed for professional creators working at the intersection of choreography and film.

Guided by filmmaker Steven Elbers (@stevenelbers) and choreographer Sara Europaeus (@sarppinen), this immersive experience unfolds as a thoughtful exploration of how the body can be translated onto screen with intention and depth. Participants are invited into a process that moves seamlessly from conceptual development to the crafting of movement language, and from cinematic technique to the nuances of the final edit.

At its core, 𝘿𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙖 reflects a dialogue between lens and body, image and motion, offering a space where artistic disciplines converge and new forms of expression quietly take shape.

As power looms from above, live music, sensuality, pole dance, shibari and chains engulf your senses, challenging perception of time, space and what’s real. Echoing the dynamics of gladiators, this performance installation exposes how algorithmic power structures and entertainment systems physically and psychologically sculpt modern showgirls, empowering them for battle while simultaneously eroding their agency.

🩸⚔️THE ARENA - Immersion Pt. 2. Glamour as an armour, flesh as currency, torment as entertainment, sensuality a shield.

As power looms from above, live music, sensuality, pole dance, shibari and chains engulf your senses, challenging perception of time, space and what’s real. Echoing the dynamics of gladiators, this performance installation exposes how algorithmic power structures and entertainment systems physically and psychologically sculpt modern showgirls, empowering them for battle while simultaneously eroding their agency. 

• PREMIERE: The 12th of March evening is an intimate experience including an exclusive aperitivo, a panel talk facilitated by @thedenofeden with SDC members and creative team, and an afterparty with DJ @glttrgddss . Limited tickets available.
