For our travel theme, I incorporated many elements that make traveling so important for the mind: freedom, the desire to understand the world, the shifts in perspective, and the beauty of nature. Writing and taking notes allow me to reflect and to sense even the smallest details.
The wonderful travel text I used comes from the almost unknown Isabelle Eberhardt, the first woman to travel alone across the Sahara around the year 1900. She disguised herself as a young man and traveled almost all of North Africa. Her text is full of curiosity and joy and this is what I also try to incorporate into my sets.

Spring and early summer slipped by in a heartbeat as I worked on my new artist’s book in Kyoto and I am truly thankful to everyone I met, to the stunning landscapes that inspired me and I am especially deeply grateful to my Japanese friends and to all the generous souls who supported my work.

Building a living surrounding in a photo studio is a special challenge which I love to take on. Especially the beauty of moss is very fascinating as a whole world lives within. Since half a billon years mosses live on earth, existing largely at ground level and most of us may never take the time to stop and appreciate the world at our feet.
Originating from the forests near Berlin, the plants were returned to nature to continue growing in hundreds shades of green.
