Sheffield Makes: @nobleandwylie 👞
Meet Kenneth, the craftsman and shoemaker behind Noble and Wylie, a workshop and shoe shop in Sheffield. Kenneth makes sustainable footwear by hand, using artisanal practices and traditional construction methods on heritage machines.
His background in Fashion Design and pattern cutting has helped him refine his designs that are based on a modern utilartarian aesthetic with a gentle nod to the historic vintage styles of the British workshop.
Each piece is fully repairable and made to last, echoing the brand’s strong environmental conscience and core design values.
Kenneth discusses the background of his workshop and shows us the making process from cutting to finishing. He also addresses the modern realities of running a successful brand and workshop today, including the conflicting impact of social media.
Sheffield Makes is a series of short films about Sheffield makers, processes and products produced within the City of Sheffield and surrounding area. It’s part of our Digital Programme, and offers a unique insight into the latest chapter in Sheffield’s making story.

The Ruskin Collection: Storm-Cloud - The Look of the Sky opened at the Millennium Gallery in Dec, and since then, artists from across the world have been responding to Ruskin’s revolutionary 1884 lecture, which was one of the first to discuss climate change, and inspired this exhibition @ruskintoday
Here’s curator, Ashley Gallant, to explain how this digital artwork by @doctortompayne and @goodgoodgoodall is evolving thanks to artists across the world responding to the lecture.
This exhibition brings together work from the @ruskintoday collection, curated by our @natsatclub young people, with video work by @goodgoodgoodall and research by @doctortompayne at @sheffhallamuni
The Ruskin Collection: Storm-Cloud - the Look of the Sky continues at the Millennium Gallery until 29 Nov 26. If you like this exhibition, please donate £5 to help care for Sheffield’s collection and celebrate the stories they tell.

✨ Open Call - Visual Artists ✨
We would like to invite expressions of interest from Visual Artists to create new work in dialogue with an artwork from Sheffield’scollection, bringing different perspectives to the fore.
Sheffield Museums believe that the city’s Collection prompts many wide-ranging conversations and we are interested in how artists can use these conversations to explore ideas and develop their practice.
Commission Brief:
The new artwork should engage with Sheffield’s Visual Art Collection. It can consider a single artwork or a series of artworks from the Collection that resonate with you and your creative practice. Alternatively, it might consider the Collection more broadly or providean alternative narrative or take the form of deeper interpretation.
The artwork will be displayed in the Graves Gallery. It can use any medium and cover any subject so long as it is rooted in Sheffield’s Visual Art Collection.

Hercules, the ultimate LGBTQ beefcake from queer history 💪
Here’s curator Jon Sleigh to tell us about the three ages of Hercules, a trio that can be seen in Revolution, Revelation, Reinforcement: Queer Legacies in Sheffield’s Art Collection.
The exhibition pairs or groups historic and contemporary artworks to explore through three key conversations – Revolution, the historical legal and social constraints surrounding Queer expression; Revelation, coded messages which have been hidden or deliberately obscured; and Reinforcement, how the foundations of Queer art and its histories continue to be retained and strengthened.
Growing, caring for and sharing the city’s collections is only possible thanks to you and your generosity – please donate £5 to ensure that the collections, and the stories they tell, can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Exhibition continues until 27 Feb 2027 at the Graves Gallery.

Meet @tommyhibberd the artist behind Sheffield in Motion, currently on display at Weston Park Museum.
We’ve been blown away by the response from our visitors to this display, not least over the past couple of weeks as Sheffield and sport have been in the spotlight again! 💫
Tommy will be back on site in a couple of weeks to give an exclusive artist talk about the series, his background as an artist / tattoo artist, and his unique scribble style. He’s also the first tattoo artist to display at the museum! 🤫
Lunchtime Talk: Tommy Hibberd - Scribble Art and the Energy of a Moment
Thu 21 May, 1-1.45pm
Weston Park Museum
Booking recommended. Please donate £5 to help us showcase homegrown creativity and ensure that everyone can enjoy the best in art and design here, on their doorstep.

The Instagram Story Viewer is an easy tool that lets you secretly watch and save Instagram stories, videos, photos, or IGTV. With this service, you can download content and enjoy it offline whenever you like. If you find something interesting on Instagram that you’d like to check out later or want to view stories while staying anonymous, our Viewer is perfect for you. Anonstories offers an excellent solution for keeping your identity hidden. Instagram first launched the Stories feature in August 2023, which was quickly adopted by other platforms due to its engaging, time-sensitive format. Stories let users share quick updates, whether photos, videos, or selfies, enhanced with text, emojis, or filters, and are visible for only 24 hours. This limited time frame creates high engagement compared to regular posts. In today’s world, Stories are one of the most popular ways to connect and communicate on social media. However, when you view a Story, the creator can see your name in their viewer list, which may be a privacy concern. What if you wish to browse Stories without being noticed? Here’s where Anonstories becomes useful. It allows you to watch public Instagram content without revealing your identity. Simply enter the username of the profile you’re curious about, and the tool will display their latest Stories. Features of Anonstories Viewer: - Anonymous Browsing: Watch Stories without showing up on the viewer list. - No Account Needed: View public content without signing up for an Instagram account. - Content Download: Save any Stories content directly to your device for offline use. - View Highlights: Access Instagram Highlights, even beyond the 24-hour window. - Repost Monitoring: Track the reposts or engagement levels on Stories for personal profiles. Limitations: - This tool works only with public accounts; private accounts remain inaccessible. Benefits: - Privacy-Friendly: Watch any Instagram content without being noticed. - Simple and Easy: No app installation or registration required. - Exclusive Tools: Download and manage content in ways Instagram doesn’t offer.
